#247SBR_John,
You need to take a look at this. I don't see any mentioning about a guaranteed $5,000 cash prizes each week.
Beat The Prick 2010
sponsored by Diamond Sportsbook
Weekly Prize-Pool
1. $10,000 will be prorated among all eligible winners who outscore 'ThePrick' that week. If 700 players enter picks in one week, $2,000 will be added to the weekly pot. For every 100 over 700 an additional $2,000 will be added.
Season Ending Prizes
1. $5,000
2. $2,500
3. $1,000
4. $750
5. $400
6. $200
7. $150
Must deposit $50+ to Diamond Sportsbook to be eligible. Players with balances still must deposit. If you do not have an account already, you must register one here. All prizes are cash and carry 6X rollover. If you do not fund your sportsbook account, you will receive SBRpoints instead. A $100 prize will be applied as 100 SBRpoints.
What 'ThePrick' does
By midnight Tuesday of each week, 'The Prick' will make 4 picks on NFL/NCAAF sides or totals. Nobody can enter any picks until 'The Prick' makes his picks. The games which he selects will be taken off the board.
Objective of Contest
Your objective is to out-perform 'ThePrick' each week. If he goes 4-0, no money changes hands. If he goes 3-1 +3.00, and you go 3-1 +3.01 or better, you will have beaten 'ThePrick' that week.
You must make 4 picks per week. If you make less than 4 picks, you will be unable to win a prize that week.
You must designate one pick as a "Best Bet", which is a 2-unit play.
You must be positive units to have "beaten the Prick".

The 'problem' I'm seeing is that there are so many different types of players that it becomes tough to please everyone, or keep everyone interested. So if you're going to give away free points at the lower end, why not raise the stakes a little at the other end?
You could have three types of contestants, instead of two. Those playing for points, without a deposit. Those playing for cash, with a deposit. And a third group that plays for cash, but has also bought in for higher season ending prizes.Comment -

#253so any deposit of $50 or more from today until the start of the contest will be good for full cash prizes
is that correct?
or do we have to maintain a balance of $50 or more in the account throughout the season?
thank youComment -

#256I only played it a 2 or 3 times last year because you had to have different books each week. But did you have to make your picks all at once? Did the games stay up till start time? The rules do not mention anything about this. thanks if somebody answersComment -

#259NP, tblues2005.
Another poster mentioned this earlier, they have a 100 for 100 (freeplay offer). For those looking to deposit the minimum $50 for this contest, springing up the extra $50 could be worth it to you. The rollover is steep (10x), but it could still be worth it to you.

#260Pavy,
My idea did not make the final table. The devil is in the detail we would not be able to do my idea. To guarantee a set amount would mean we could not instantly announce the prizes each week because we dont know who deposited, guys enter every week. We did address the scalability issue and added that every 100 players who would participate over 600 would up the pot 2000. That way everyone is assured a better pay out than last year.Comment -

But you are saying that every week someone new can enter the contest. I noticed that in the rules it doesn't say who is eligible for end of the year prizes. That means that someone can enter the last 4 weeks and go 4-0 on 16 total games and win the whole thing. I believe last year there was a requirement about a minimum amount of weeks to be eligible for season end prizes.
I may be overseeing this in the rules so maybe someone else can figure it out.Comment -

#263Thanks John. Lets hope that enough people deposit so it would never become an issue.

#271Unless you are just a horrible capper, you should easily triple your money on a $50 investment. Sounds like I'm going to be at DSI for a while because I went ahead and put in a 100 to get the 100 in freeplay, however, that has a 20x rollover plus all BTP money will have a rollover. Might get it rolled over by football season next year.Comment -

#272Must deposit $50+ to Diamond Sportsbook to be eligible. Players with balances still must deposit.Minimum Plays 48
So after the 5th week no one should be allowed to sign in. Because everyone allowed to sign in after the 5th will automatically be only be playing for points hence diluting the cash prizes even more.
Am I reading this all right? It's very confusing..Comment -

#273This didn't pass through. SBR_John's idea was voted down. There is a good possibility of prizes being less that 5K per week depending on the number of free loaders beating the prick.Comment -

I read the rollover is 10x, still steep though, especially if the bonus can only be used in straight wagers. (This rule under their 100% promotion contradicts their "House Rules" which states that you can use it for parlays and teasers).
- Deposit $100 and get $100:
- Fund your account and get a $100 free sports bonus, up to $100. Valid for new players and reactivations only.
- Promotion valid from 12/14/2009 to 02/02/2015
- Conditions & Restrictions:
- Deposit amount $100
- 10 Time Rollover
- Credit card deposit applies
- Max Bonus $100
- One bonus per account per household.
If eligible, the 100% bonus will be applied to your betting account up to 24 hours after your initial deposit.
The maximum bonus payable as part of this promotion is $100 regardless of the deposit amount.
The 100% bonus is in the form of a free play.
Bonus only applies to straight wagers on the spread and totals.
Not available for Moneybookers or Neteller deposits.
Under House Rules:
Basic Free Plays Rules 1. Free Plays can only be wagered on:- • Football (NFL / NCAA)
- • Basketball (NBA / NCAA / WNBA)
- • Major League Baseball
- • NHL
- • Soccer
2. The minimum deposit eligible to apply for a free play is $300 (it may vary according to the promotion).
3. They can be used only on straight wagers, parlays and teasers
