Exactly...And why would people pay for that? I've never checked but i'm sure you can find plenty of reviews online.

I wouldn't pay 10 bucks a month to get reviews on movies, so I knew what the good ones were.

There is an important issue we didn't discuss.. can we log in and see the posts, but we can't post.. OR we just can't log in either to read sbr without paying??? this is the most important thing.. cause if sbr johnny was smart, he'd make it where we can't even read sbr unless we pay.

but we all say we would not pay, but i would bet my mortgage if this place did charge you, and you knew some of your buddies here decided to pay the fee and you couldn't get access to this place unlesss you paid.. 84.4% of us would pay the fee, because we'd all be curious as to what is going on here, what are they saying.. are they talking about me.. etc....

people that say they'd quit for good are not thinknig properly.. it's like a crack addict saying i will never pay for crack again if i have to pay for it.. bullshit.. we are no diferent.. we are all addicts by being here and this place is our life and brings us joy to see everyone.. this place is our crack and we'd all pay for it if we had to..

        stop lying to yourselves boys..

And that money is received from that poster into perpetuity regardless if they are still an active member of SBR or not. As long as you're funding that book that you signed up with through the banner, SBR is making cash.

If those people who weren't willing to pay left SBR tomorrow, not only would they be replenished by those who would prefer this site steered clear of the inane rubbish that seems to flood it from time to time and actually have money to gamble with as opposed to the high number here who seem to solely exist on the site for free points and/or to troll, but massive revenue would still be pouring in via its affiliate programs.
shari, I understand how affiliate programs work. I know SBR gets money off our losses, but they also charge for the books to be here to begin with. Its a win win for SBR. I think it would be harmful to them to start charging members. Thats all Im saying. The more swingin' dicks they have here the better it looks to the books. More fresh meat for the machine that is sports gambling to chew up & spit out!

good point nicky. If I couldnt read anything I would be more likely to pay. ALOT of members are here just for the service plays, it gets more traffic than PT. To be honest, I kinda like Rx SP forum better if thats what I'm looking for, just because there's more convo in it that makes more sense. All plays in one thread instead of a different thread for every service. Thats just me though, Alot like SBR's better. What Im saying though is alot of lurkers look without becoming members, which helps the visitor count & traffic count, but I think they should make you become a member, non-paid of course, before viewing any content

I'd definitely still pay to be here. For those of us who actually gamble on this site, I think the majority would agree that the value we get from sharing knowledge with other posters would far outweigh whatever minor monthly fee we had to dole out for the privilege. And I'd pay more so if there was an area in the forum like I referred to in my earlier post: only those members who have paid could read/access it. Maybe then more posters would feel confident to share their plays and insight because they wouldn't have to fear some random coming in their thread and trolling them senselessly.

everyone needs to grow up & not worry about trolls. There's trolls in everyday real life, so why wouldnt there be trolls in abundance on the net?

Not everyone has the same level of confidence and not everyone has the same level of tolerance. I know of a few people who refuse to post any plays on here in the MLB forum because of the crap they see other posters put up with. They'd rather just do their own thing and not put up with the drama.

At the end of the day though, the whole issue of a paid SBR is a moot one anyway as John said even if it happened, it wouldn't be within the next 5 years. So we can cruise along like we are today.
