You are spot on with your comments above and one of the positives to living on that side of town.

As stated, both sides offer positives and negatives.......and having lived on both sides for numerous years, try not to let anyone say that one is considerable better than the other, because it's not true.

Personally, I'm a big fan of GREEN VALLEY RANCH, SUNSET STATION, SAMSTOWN, and BARLEYS.............as well as many of the local tavarns and restarurants.

Great tavarns and many more well established restaurants and tavarns on the eastside also...........all this with less traffic and easier access to the strip and airport.........as well as UNLV and the SILVER BOWL.

Yet again, I have to disagree.

Only for the few days that the temps are above 106 would I consider it remotely "hell"......and even then it's not that bad..............the sun is not as intense as it is Florida and the humidity is way less.

The SUN INTENSITY and the HUMIDITY are way, way worse in Florida.

I can walk 36 holes of golf in Vegas during August(and I'm 50),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,in Florida, I would not even attempt 9 holes for 3 months out of year.

You're right, great place when it comes to having fun, having things to do, etc, but not for the "average" family I guess is what I'm tryin to say. Don't people get jacked during the middle of the day there? It's like fuqqin Compton in some parts.

One has to watch their back more than they do in most cities, yes.

However, in the nice sections of the city(GREEN VALLEY/SUMMERLIN), Vegas is on par with any city with a population over 300,000............so not THAT BAD.

I disagree. LV is a city of around 1.5 million. Of course there are going to be bad areas like any other city that size. You quickly learn where they are and you stay out of them.

As for "average" families, Vegas has the largest Mormon population of any city outside of Utah. If Mormons find it fine to raise families in Vegas, I think anybody can do so.

It is Sin City, but the 'burbs are very nice. There was so much growth the past 15-20 years that the streets are very wide (great for bicycling) and there are many planned communities with parks, trails, ball fields, etc.

I've lived in Dallas and St. Louis and I will take 110 degree days anytime over the wretched humidity I used to live in.

No it's not booming, that bogus information...the unemployment rate is over 14%....and if you want a minimum wage position you can probably find it, but as far as high paying position, or a dealer at a major casino, it's not happening.

Panorama Towers is a nice spot. You need to do a lot of work and research in deciding where to live. If you want to be on the Strip, Panorama isn't what you want. But it is very close and I believe has a good base to it as it was finished before the economical crash.

Look around. You have to decide what is most important to you. I would consider downtown. Better prices for what you get and more of an upside potential.
