I should just win 100$ a day. That would be more than enough to live out there. Just gotta stay disciplined
I'm moving to Vegas

#39Problem is you couldn't get a job in Vegas for $9/ hour with benefits with a college degree.
Great place to retire with a pension, though !
Vegas will become a retirement place like much of Florida.Comment -

Plenty of people are working in Vegas, I'm pretty sure casinos and sportsbooks still need employees to run the placeComment -

#41i seen a couple regular hotels with low weekly rates around there, 4 queens and binions were only like $25 a night, Binions gives discount to poker players, and probably could get a cheaper rate for long term at the casino hotels.Comment -

It is the El Cortez moved to the strip. It won't be $25 on Friday and Saturday either. Probably more like $80 those nights.
You can't really live in a hotel room....maybe downtown where the rates don't triple on weekends.Comment -

#45Good luck, Im' pulling for you.
Insight I have: I know two dealers (downtown) and they say the new thing is they are getting sent home early, as in not getting their whole shift due to lack of traffic. Hopefully you have experience in most games, so you can land somewhere.
If at all possible take two weeks there and check everything out. Crazy prices on real estate as everyone has said, again rooting for you, your living the dream!Comment -

#60Currently, Vegas is about the worst place to be for work. But, that could change (if you have 10 years to wait). A friend of mine lives there and there are so many people leaving that it is difficult to find a U-Haul to leave because nobody is moving there to bring the trucks back. This is what I heard from him, this is not based on anything I know as fact.Comment -

Termites: Lucky so far.
Property Taxes:
Insurance Issues: Just got kicked from state farm, Citizens kicks in the beginning of August
Hurricanes: See above. Also sucks being out of work and power for 7-18 days at a time.
Absurd Association: Absolutely Ridiculous, glad to finally be HOA free.
Sinkholes: Haven't been affected yet.
Humidity: I am a miserable person for 4 months out of the year. (Did you guys know it can rain without a single cloud in the sky? We call them 'sunshowers')
Hoards of People: Its thinning out since the downturn.
Crime: Business broken into, car broken into, car stolen. Police returned the car to me with bullet shells and crack cocaine still in it. "We're short-staffed on the weekends" was their excuse.
Other than that... great place to live and raise a family

#68PO69,
I hear ya but got burned on 4 homes back in my real estate investing days and these were bought and considered real bargains at the time. I spent months rearching buying and making low offers and all 4 were considered excellent investments by everyone at the time. House supposedly bottomed out at the price we bough it at, couldnt go any lower everyone said including us. Well guess what it went lower and ntohing you can do it about either but sit there and watch your money go away.
Also havent lived in an apartment since I was 25 years old. Not playing that game anymore. We rent a home as do a lot of people in Vegas. You can get a very nice one and a very nice neightborhood for 1,250 a month or so. Less if your 55 and older. The thing is for $1,400 a month rental you can get a a much nicer home for that kind of payment a month and that is what sucks. The thng is when you sign that dotted line too buy you are stuck and cant leave and if the market continues to go down nothing yuo can do where is with renting when its time to go, then you can go and you not accountable for anyting and that is huge and probably why we won't buy for a while. Bottom line you buy something you better want to live there for a few years minimum probably 5.Comment -
