You know the secret to beating this game? Bet on the team that outscores their opponent by more than the spread.

Brilliant, huh? And as informative as BTCL.

When I first got into this game, more than 20 years ago, the hot idea was "the winning team covers the spread almost all the time, so don't worry about beating the spread, just pick the winning team!"

People were talking about that like it had meaning, like it was an insight, like it was a clarification.

Now, they talk about BTCL the same way and for the same reason.

Power posting is both an art and a science. When I was in my prime a couple years ago it was a 24/7
career. It was more important than work, career, family and everything.

it's great seeing probably the 2 biggest power posters of all time at sbr.. i rmember slicker had like 12,000 posts in the first 8 months of his career.. and archie had like 15,000 posts after 1 yr..

if slicker didn't tail off that much like recently, he'd be at 30,000 posts instead 15,000.. and archie would be on the same pace. i don't know how you guys do it.. i get exhausted after 4 posts.. i need to sit down and take a break..

This thread has been informative for me. Made me go out and read more on this stuff is def of interest to me. Obviously beating the closing number is a lot harder than it looks from the outside.

With the majority of favourites isn't it a simple matter of backing early and your going to be in front of that closing number more times that your not?
