I'd have a hard time buying it if he lived in Iowa.

I think Florida has plenty of year round millionaires. You could do a lot boating type activities to stay cool. Many would laugh at Boston millionaires that stay there in the winter. Ideally a split between the two would be nice. I once knew a waiter that worked in Maine in the summer and Daytona Beach in the winter. He was no millionaire but able to do that being single.

Living in Florida is a sound, financial thing to do. There is no state income tax. I bet that was one consideration for LeBron. Playing with the Knicks would have costs him an estimated $12 to $15 million in state and local taxes.

the joy can be in the quest more than in the result. Assuming he is wealthy ( some don't believe it), he got where he is by doing and enjoying what he does. Why stop if the joy continues. Keep on doing what you do fishhead. As you say , countless times, a lot of us can learn from you.

My host-father does that. Lives in Cincinnati during the summer, Florida during the winter. Ex-Marine so he has shit-load of money. He's got a townhouse in Florida from his dead brother and a mansion in Cincy. And he drives a Porsche. Single guy though.

FH isn't rich. Would a rich guy ask this about a contest? Sounds like he's broke and needs the money.

When I met him he showed me numerous stock certificates that all had 6 figure values.

Well excellent point and it was rather strange. He telegraphed them right on the table hoping I would look. He never actually showed them off, I took it upon myself to be nosy and then proceeded to tell him he is rich.

Those 6-figure stock certificates were COLLECTIBLES, not real................OMG, I can't believe you actually noticed those, and more so, thought they were real............WTF????

I would be lucky to get over $24 bucks formost of them on EBAY.............although a couple of them could fetch close to $100.

he has to pay city and state tax to every location outside of florida he plays in. the savings arent as big as you think.

It's kinda true just like me if I have to go work a trading desk in New York for any period of time and I live in another state the Federal Government will hold me liable for New York State and federal taxes for a portion of income made.

There is NO STATE tax in Nevada............

Furthermore, when I win a bet online with my computor in Mississippi, while residing in Florida, I do not have to pay MS. STATE INCOME TAX on my win.
