Things like golf courses, pools, etc. increase property values if they are run correctly.

Taxes can be overwhelming....government wastes....so I can appreciate your perspective but if nobody paid....they would close the course and each tax payer would save ONLY a couple of bucks.

I don't know how you deduce I want to play public courses for free out of that but yes I know what a public course is and understand the difference

maybe you are caught up on the word free,

free=prepaid green fees seeing it is a public park built the same as any other park,public funding,this is why you get to go to the park and swing on the swings and slide down the slide and there is no charge,or in other words free,it is free because it has been paid for already and the upkeep comes from taxes not a fee to play in the sand box.
