did this myself a few months ago ....

I was on an asprin - and this little shit was a bitch to stop ... for next time - hold the finger above your head and apply as much pressure as you can to an area below the cut .... for some reason my wife (a nurse) had me dip it in sugar too .... that didnt help much of anything .. but may work on less severe cuts ...

The worse pain in the world was when I was closing my car door and got my thumb stuck in the door and actually had to reopen the door to get it out. Went to emergency room for pain and they without anything given for pain stuck a little needle right through the nail to release the pressure and pain. It felt like a hot drill bit going through my thumb. It helped and the whole nail feel off after almost 2 weeks but luckily my new nail was growing in bit.

nah - can hardly notice now .. just a slight slant at the tip .. most grew back - its numb though right at the top - think i sliced though the nerves ....
