Iphones are not the only phones that can be hacked, I have seen 3gs iphones that were jailbroken and the added capabilities are no different than what I can accomplish with my rooted EVO.

Only difference is the Android operating system is a much more open platform than Iphone operating system therefore it is not considered illegal for me to hack my EVO and gain root access nor will it be as likely to void my warranty as is with Apple.

Impossible to void the warranty by jailbreaking. Doesn't affect the hardware. It'll be funny the day the open platform catches up with Android users when viruses and other nonsense get into it. Have fun with that.

And if there are no differences once both phones are hacked, iPhone still comes out ahead because of its superior audio capabilities.

AppleCare reps are told not to perform service on iPhone 4s with reception problems
They are instructed to instead give customers a PR-driven recitative
The document's existence suggests Apple knows there is a widespread hardware flaw
One law firm is seeking clients for a possible class-action lawsuit against Apple

(Mashable) -- According to documents leaked to Boy Genius Report today, AppleCare representatives are being given a strong company line to deliver to unhappy iPhone 4 owners who complain about reception issues.
Employees are told to say that the device's reception performance "is the best we have ever shipped" and that its critical antenna flaws are "a fact of life in the wireless world." They are told not to perform service on iPhones with these problems and instead to give customers a PR-driven recitative instead.
In a nutshell, Apple knows the phone has problems but will insist that users are simply "holding it wrong."
These statements are dead ringers for CEO Steve Jobs' own assertions that the iPhone 4 antenna and reception issues do not, in fact, exist. "There is no reception issue," he told one user. But the very fact that this document exists suggests that Apple execs know there is indeed a widespread hardware flaw, even if they're unwilling to address it publicly at this time.
Outside the reality distortion field, on the other hand, we and many others have been able to duplicate the issue being discussed: When held by its sides, which are composed of a metal antenna band, the phone's reception quality drops dramatically. iPhone owners in our newsroom have seen reception decrease from five to two bars simply from holding the phone with two points of contact between the owner's hand and the antenna band.
One law firm is even preparing for a class-action lawsuit against Apple and is soliciting iPhone 4 customers to contact them about reception issues.
Also, while some folks have reported that using a bumper case prevents contact with the antenna band and preserves reception quality, AppleCare reps are being told to not give bumper cases to disgruntled users.
Here's the full text of the document as reported:
          1. Keep all of the positioning statements in the BN handy -- your tone when delivering this information is important.
          a. The iPhone 4's wireless performance is the best we have ever shipped. Our testing shows that iPhone 4's overall antenna performance is better than iPhone 3GS.
          b. Gripping almost any mobile phone in certain places will reduce its reception. This is true of the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS, and many other phones we have tested. It is a fact of life in the wireless world.
          c. If you are experiencing this on your iPhone 3GS, avoid covering the bottom-right side with your hand.
          d. If you are experiencing this on your iPhone 4, avoid covering the black strip in the lower-left corner of the metal band.
          e. The use of a case or Bumper that is made out of rubber or plastic may improve wireless performance by keeping your hand from directly covering these areas.
          2. Do not perform warranty service. Use the positioning above for any customer questions or concerns.
          3. Don't forget YOU STILL NEED to probe and troubleshoot. If a customer calls about their reception while the phone is sitting on a table (not being held) it is not the metal band.
          4. ONLY escalate if the issue exists when the phone is not held AND you cannot resolve it.
          5. We ARE NOT appeasing customers with free bumpers -- DON'T promise a free bumper to customers.

Glad to see that at least the MP3 player gets good sound quality, it is a shame that you can not use the phone for its main purpose "as a cell phone"

You're so naive. People hate the product at the top. I don't even like Apple products, but the iPhone is a terrific product. I've had better reception than anyone else I know, but I'm Canadian.

Complaining about reception doesn't mean the product failed, it's an issue with the service provider. Not sure why that is such a hard concept to grasp.

The issue is with the antenna in the phone which when blocked by the hand causes the signal on the "iphone4" to drop 2-3 bars worth of reception, this has nothing to do with the provider it is a flaw in the design of the device. Apples stance is to deny that it exists, but yet they still offer the brilliant solution of recommending that the users are "holding the phone wrong"

Iphone4 is still a good device you just have to hold it in an awkward manner in order to use the telephone, though one should not expect a great cell phone experience from a MP3 player.

People complained about the 3G when it came out, too. It's still hands down the best phone on the market. Again, don't fall prey to media nonsense. Unless you have actually experienced losing signal, you're just a fool believing anything you read.

How is it the best phone on the market when you have to hold it with a pair of tongs just to be able to get a phone signal to talk through?

                    Have you used the iphone4?

Have you used all the other devices on the market? or do you just believe the iphone is the best phone on the market because of media nonsense?

I don't understand people getting in a pissing match over the Iphone and Android phones....Both have their perks, both do pretty much the same. The people that think the Iphone is better have the Iphone, and same with the Android phones. I have the EVO and it's great, but I think the Iphone is still a great phone, and it's been around for years and is proven.

If your iphone has a hardware failure while jailbroken there is often no way to remove the jailbreak and apple techs will detect the jailbreak if you attempt to claim warranty.

You would have to be a complete retard to do that though. A jailbreak takes 30 seconds these days and does not do anything to the hardware. You also do a complete restore in iTunes and no one is the wiser. I'm curious what someone could do to void the warranty via a jailbreak. Do you have examples?

Wait! Are you telling me that the news isn't reporting people who are using the iPhone successfully? It's almost like they are only reporting problems, but that doesn't make sense? Why would the news sensationalize a story about one of the most anticipated phones in history? Say it ain't so!
