It is the Hall of Fame, not Hall of many All Star appearances.

KG was one of the best players of his era, how can you be selling his game so short?

I am not saying KG is not a hall of famer. I just think he has benefitted a whole lot by landing on a team of other alpha dogs. When KG was the best player on his Minnesota teams there were no Finals or championships. I don't feel he was the best of his era either. He is behind at least the Mailman and Duncan, on some days behind R Wallace and C Webber. No one would put Chris Webber in the Hall of Fame and I don't there is that much difference between KG and Chris Webber. Talented yes, championship caliber players no.

The thing about Garnett's time in Minnesota is that, save 2003-2004 when he had Spreewell and Cassell, he had very little in the way of support. He played with two guys that made All-Star teams while with the Wolves, Tom Gugliotta and Wally Szczerbiak. There was no Stockton or even a Manu Ginobili or Peja to be his sidekick. There are very few teams that have won Championships without at least two All-Stars. Garnett never really had a chance to be successful in Minnesota.

              WTF?

              No. No. No.

Again, he did not go from losing constantly to suddenly winning.

The Minnesota teams centered around him and only him from 98-04 did well in a tough West. No they didn't win a title, but they won.

KG is one of the greatest big men ever and you're comparing him to Rasheed Wallace and Chris Webber?

Webber is one of only six players to have career averages of 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists (Four of which are Hall of Famers: Baylor, Bird, Chamberlain, Cunningham. Kevin Garnett is still active)

Real far fetched to compare KG to Chris Webber isn't it.

You are shocked aren't you. Nobody thinks Nique is a good all around player compared to Bird, but if we go on pure numbers Bird can't touch Nique. However, the eye test tells me that Bird was on another level compared to one of his contemporaries. Not many people realize that Nique's numbers dwarfs Bird, that is always my ace in the hole when someone brings up numbers or all star games or hall of fame arguments. Even Ray Charles can see that one.

I thought it was well known that Wilkens put up huge numbers. I didn't see him play, but I heard about his numbers. He scored a ton.

Of course, the context is what matters here.

yet then you turn around and try to use numbers to compare Webber to KG

KG doesn't meet the eye test as a hall of famer. I didn't bring up KG's all star appearances, mvp's, or stats. I just said when he was the man, his team was not championship caliber, and when he became a Celtic he was an equal share of three pieces. That does not make him a hall of famer in my book.

wow, Seaborne puts way too much emphasis on the team around the player....

was Barry Saunders not a HOF-er?
what about Dick Butkis? Elgin Baylor? Dan Marino?

its not always the player's fault that his GM's ownership couldn't draft/aquire the right teamates
