Letter From the school yesterday........


The immunization requirements for school attendance in the state of Texas are now available. Your child will need to be completely up to date and their records on file at OCS before August 9, 2010 to be enrolled in class. Please check your records to see if they have all of the following immunizations and send a copy to OCS.


1 Td booster
4 polio
MMR #1 and #2
Hep B #1, #2, and #3
Varicella (Chicken Pox) disease verification or Vaccine #1 and #2.
Meningococcal -1 dose



You may want to check with your doctor or clinic to verify vaccinations are up to date, or to schedule an appointment to receive the needed vaccinations. OCS must have completed records on file to be in accordance with the law in Texas and for ACSI accreditation. Your records may be mailed or faxed. I am not in the clinic everyday in the summer but will check my messages and mail every week.

Until I had my son I was 100% for vaccinations but now that I'm a parent, I had to do a lot of research as to what I felt was the best route to take. Personally I've opted to go with a delayed schedule so he has time to fully recover between each set of injections. There are side effects but some of them (autism for example) haven't been investigated enough yet to make a clear determination either way.

There's too many solid arguments on either side of this for me to be 100% sure of the right thing to do so I had to arm myself with as much information as I could and go with what would allow me to sleep soundly at night. Best of luck with this - it's definitely not easy to go against what the general public says you 'must' do.

Actually I have 2 girls. My youngest will turn 1 next month and my oldest is 3 and a half.

This kids name was Brandon, I'll never forget it!
