NBA All-Defensive team is selected by 30 NBA coaches.

defense wins championship fellas. that is what makes rondo a top 5 current player in this league.

get off the ****in stats who cares
Until he can hit a mid range jumper consistently, considering he doesnt get to the rim at will every time, he wont be in the top five.

from 10-15 feet away from the basket rondos percentage went from 35% in 2009 to 52.5% in 2010. he has also upped his shot attempts ........

Did not know that, thats good improvement, while I was nitpicking some, I wonder if there is another starting point guard in the league who shoots a lower free throw percentage.

definitely the weakest part of his game.. he's shooting 70% on 52/75 throughout the playoffs

Well the weakest would be his 3 point shooting, a dismal 21% during the regular season, but I really wouldnt hold that too much against him, its not like he takes a heck of alot of them. This playoffs he's had some very small pgs to contend with, Im sure he's benefitted from it. Not taking anything away from him, I love the guy, but just dont think he's the second best PLAYER in the league. For that argument you would expect Rondo to garner at least one MVP vote.

He is solid but I don't see him getting that respect until he does it for several years straight.

no way in hell he is the second best player in the league.. ..

but the way he spaces the floor for the "too old celtics" and plays defense has too put him in the top 5...

also he is shooting 40% from 3 in the playoffs with a few big ones

and your mvp argument who is the mvp so far of the playoffs?? you can agree that this only thing that matters

i'll just leave it at that not much more i can say only time will tell

Nice sarcasm, the "experts" would have the world to believe this crop is better/had a better year than Rondo.

During the regular season in every sport, the high powered offense always seems to be the best possible equation for success. However once you get to the playoffs it's a whole new ball game.

Why do you keep emphasizing defense so heavily, yes it matters a whole lot, but Nash proved it doesnt matter it locking down MVP votes, defense is an afterthought when considering the award, if thought upon at all.

Because it is the most important part of a player's game???????

Why do you keep talking about the MVP award? I really don't care who got votes.

It's a regular season award guy.

Rondo should be in the discussion as the best PG in the NBA, not quite the best player just yet

not sure how you could even argue with goat milk, hes been dead on, on just about everything hes said so far. No way is rondo a top 15 player in the league no chance in hell, and yeah its pretty easy to look good when you have pierce garnett and allen. You put deron williams on the celtics and i dont even think the celtics lose a game the entire season

Rondo can't lock down pg's 1 on 1. That's why he gets shit on by the likes of D williams and Derick Rose. He's a gambler on a defense, a steals man, nothing more.

If Rondo was top 5 player in this league, why didn't he make All NBA first team?

rondo is a good player, but lets not get carried away here
rondos job is to spread the ball around, defend, bring energy
the game is easy when u play with 3 stars
u send him to the nets and they are still in the lottery, u send lebron/wade/kobe and they make the playoffs
