Once again its a relative unknown in Morocco vs last world cups runner up Croatia. I dont have any personal knowledge or observation regarding Morocco , other then the few games i saw in African Nations Cup. Wins against Liberia ( 2 - 0 ) and Sth Africa ( 2 - 1 ) dont carry a lot of weight as far as level of competition. A friendly win against Chile ( 2 - 0 ) at face value seems impressive , but a closer look shows a number of fringe players for Chile. I will look at Croatia's build up to the World Cup as a bit more impressive with 2 wins over Denmark ( home and away ) and away to France and Austria. Germany are at the turning point of a youthful transition. Its been a nice run to watch the likes of Lahm , Ozil , Schweinsteigger , Klose , Podolski , etc , but that last W/C in 2018 was brutal. This years edition is strapped with young talent , similar to England 4 years ago. Are they ready to step it up as a whole ? England certainly has. They are going to be a team to reckon with for many years to come imo. Japan are a quality side , as their #24 RIFA ranking suggests. As a neutral participant looking at the heavy line i would pass. The Argentine conundrum is puzzling. Now there was a case when you thought Argentina was just going to extend their 1st half play & soar over in game totals themselves. I really think they didn't expect the physical play of the Saudi's & the crowd, wow the crowd! It was an NFL home team affect. I really think the Great Messi will drag that team to the knockout rounds.
