    I never understood why they didn't just promote Foster in the first place. I thought for a long time he was the next coach-in-waiting, like Jimbo was at FSU under Bowden.

    Beamer was a great coach. One of the greats in college football history. That can never be repeated. Virginia Tech has disadvantages on Virginia. They cannot be better than Virginia over time. They are basically Boston College.

    He did a really good job at Memphis. VT is a tough job now with high expectations. They are going to run through a lot of coaches.

    This is not the greatest job to get. It is a career-ender. It will be interesting to see who they hire. I don't think they are going to have the best list of candidates.
