I think souvenir tees are tacky to start with. I have some buddies that are street vendors in DC, and they laugh and laugh at how much they make on tourists. Lets differentiate though, a tacky souvenir tee is tacky because it is cheap and trite. To sport the American Flag itself is not a tacky gesture.

It's up to the parents/taxpayers in the end to set the school board and the specific school straight on what they want to see in this case. This isn't just a case of some kid wearing the likeness of the flag -- which I can remember was a big deal back in the late 60s when I was in public schools.
