The NBA's best first round matchup----Lakers/Oklahoma City---drew a 4.2 overnight tv rating for cable television (TNT).

How does that compare to the cable landscape?

Well, these shows drew better for the week.

Spongebob (repeat)
Pawn Stars
And a Pawn Stars repeat
NCIS (a repeat)

And how did it do compared to the NFL draft?

Not so good.

The NFL draft drew almost an 8.1 overnight.....

And it gets worse when you look at other NBA games.

Nature on the Discovery Channel had better numbers than any playoff game Labron played in.

Games are on too late at night. Utah/Denver game is still on and it's 1am on the east coast. Who the hell is going to stay up for that? Heck it's too late for folks on the west coast even. Most of the game times have been strange. Utah even had a game on Sunday when most Mormons obey the sabbath. Crazy scheduling.

Plus this is the first round. Most people don't care about the 1st round.

the players get bigger every year but the court and basket are the same size. it's all a bunch of black players pushing , shoving and grabbing now. people who want to watch hitting and fighting can now watch ufc, and those who don't are watching baseball.

I agree..........I never understood why they start the games so late.....has to hurt the ratings. I think it's like Hockey, you either like it or not. I didn't watch one penguin game all season, but 3 in the playoffs so far. I would rather watch paint dry than watch hockey.

It's because he has made it an entertainment league and took away all value of the sport. Hell I don't even know the last time there was a travel call. Start counting steps to the rim, more so on stars, and you will start see the rules don't even matter.

playoff hockey doesn't get anywhere NEAR the ratings of the nba.

i think the problem is that people in this country are still closet racists and will use any excuse possible to dislike the nba. because psychologically you can see their blackness (versus football where they're in full gear/helmets) that turns people off and think they are all "thugs" "former gang members" "ghetto" etc.

i for one have season tickets to both the bucks and brewers, and i have at least 10 times as much fun at the basketball games. how many exciting plays are there in a baseball game? maybe 5 in 3 hours+? versus at least 50 in an nba game...

disagree with me? then why in all that is holy does scalabrine get more cheers than ray allen, paul pierce, or kg at celtics games? it's certainly not because of all his talent and athleticism.

No more crossover appeal. Jordan took that with him to retirement. NBA players don't even do crossover commercials anymore, they don't have endorsements for anything classy anymore. Just sports stuff, G, Nike, Addidas. No Rolex, Cadillac, or anything.

There was a games running at 3pm est and that did not draw more then the night time slot. It better at 7-9 pm for it too start. People come home from work, children come home from school and finish home work by the time the game starts, rest of the people might have other things to do during the day. So you see its only smart to start it at night. For those wont don't understand marketing please don't talk like you know whats going on.

Another reason why it good for it to start at night the fans who attend the game can get there and players and give them a better game if they pratice a little in the day time.

Playoff basketball is the best group of sporting events to watch. I haven't missed a game yet this year of any series and don't intend to.
