    Twins remove statue of Griffith

    https://www.newsday.com/sports/twins-remove-ex-owner-griffith-statue-over-racist-remarks-1.45889436

Gotta say, this isn't even a racist remark...it's a remark on wealth concentration.

    Thoughts?

They can remove all the statues and TV programs they want.

It only hardens our resolve as a people.

It's absolutely asinine to remove the statue.

During a speech to a Waseca Lions club in 1978, he said he decided to make the move “when I found out you only had 15,000 blacks here,” the Minneapolis Tribune reported at the time.

That does sound a bit racist at face value. Is there a larger quote within some sort of economic context?

Is it one of those times they selectively snip the quote out of a larger quote to make it sound more shocking?

who gives a fuk, never heard of him.

Here's the larger quote. I'm not sure why he wouldn't have said it in a room with black people in it.

"They've got all the ink and all the typewriters but they don't have all the truth," Griffith said. "There's no damn place in the country worth moving too. They talk about us moving to New Orleans, but what's wrong with that is ..."At that point, Griffith interrupted himself, lowered his voice and asked if there were any blacks around. After he looked around the room and assured himself that his audience was white, Griffith resumed his answer.
"I'll tell you why we came to Minnesota," he said. "It was when I found out you only had 15,000 blacks here. Black people don't go to ball games, but they'll fill up a rassling ring and put up such a chant it'll scare you to death. It's unbelievable. We came here because you've got good, hard-working, white people here."

Damn can you imagine if New Orleans had had a baseball team the past 50 years instead?

    Red Sox the Yawkey family

Yankees were 2nd to last team to integrate, what's the problem there.....?

Washington Monument and all locations with his name attached ( parks, streets, cities/towns, museums, schools, etc.) on the horizon for removal? Nation's capital could be renamed? This crap just keeps rolling along and the "green light" is given to appease rather than resist. The continuance of pro sports is more important to a large segment of Americans than the dismantling of culture in this country, which is currently occurring.

Going to need a conference of States to restrict voting.

I'd assume there are MANY moderate Democrats that agree this is profoundly stupid.

Setting aside their ideology, the only way to preserve the wealth and sanctuary they've earned and want to leave their children, is to stop letting morons who HAVE NO SKIN IN THE GAME, vote.

These weak ass cowards running these cities are the biggest pussies I have ever seen. Traitors. They should all be hung for allowing all this to happen. Look at Seattle for Christ sake. A disgrace. Cops abandoning their station and the mayor calling it a summer of love. She needs to be pistol whipped and thrown in prison for 10 years.

The people who decide to remove statues because punks demand they do are a fukking joke. Spineless cucks.

Also, people who kneel before a mob and the terrorists like BLM and antifa, they are pathetic. Stand up for the truth. Stand up against the threat of violence. Never kneel to it. Cucks.

That's just it....guy has been dead for 30 years, the speech was over 40 years ago. How dies this make anyone's life better?

Meanwhile Pucketts statue is still up, despite his kidnapping, assault, rape and abuse allegations and Mel Brooks has a star on the walk of fame despite Blazing Saddles....

I truly don't get the hypocrisy

We both have spent time in Mpls...

It makes no sense to remove his statue now.

Btw- back in the day Pucket walked into a woman restroom at Redstone bar and sexually assaulted a women. No charges where ever filed.

    Do you remember that incident?
