Carolina Panthers set to outright release Cam Newton Tuesday (Schefter)

Wasn`t he an MVP like a minute ago?
At least he will have a second career as a fashionista and internet influencer.

    Cam Newton's tenure with the
    #Panthers
comes to an end after 9 years:

    *No. 1 pick
*29,041 passing yards (1st in franchise history)
*182 passing TDs (1st in franchise history)
    *4,806 rushing yards
*58 rushing TDs (1st in franchise history)
    *Super Bowl appearance
    *2015 NFL MVP

Dude always seemed more interested in being famous than being the best football player he could be. Self proclaimed "Superman" will go gently into the night.

Panthers should resign him for less money

dude was making 19 million and he was on a 9 game losing streak.

Not to mention he dressed like a drag queen, refused to study film, and has a noodle arm

I imagine his emotional state is totally off the wall. Guy like him, super confident persona, will have a HARD time getting dumped with no suitors waiting in the wings. I hope somebody gives him a shot.

It was a good run for Cam, I don't think he has anything left in the tank.

Looked really bad as a passer the past 2+ seasons and I don’t think it was all because of injuries. Played like a bully until that super bowl now doesn’t even seem like a good player at all

Haters gonna hate - an informal way to express consolation, voice encouragement, or dismiss criticism. The phrase implies that criticism says more about the critic, or "hater," than the person being criticized, ..... that they are making judgments out of jealousy or their own negativity.

Cam's stats speak for themselve. Haters are going to hate. Haters can also recognize a bum when they see one.

Once they signed Tedy there was zero chance they could trade Cam. No leverage unless some team was desperate for him and if that was the case, he would have been dealt prior to fa beginning.

If he is healthy he is still a good starting qb in nfl.

Chargers make a lot of sense. Their qb spot is basically open. I wouldn’t waste the 6th pick on Herbert or love. Neither will be better than cam over next few years if cam is healthy. Use 6 on a tackle, odukuh or Simmons. They could build a dominant secondary to counter Mahomes. They will need to beat them at some point to get to sb.

If some team would be dumb enough to take Carr’s contract, I would love to see cam or Jameis with Gruden. Chucky might break Mariota.

    We've discussed this many times

Running QB's have nothing to fall back on once their legs are gone.

Chargers have already built a solid secondary with Derwin James and Chris Harris Jr

the Panthers will be drafting Okudah.

Cam used to be a solid passer too

    could he regain form?

    maybe...

but the last 2 years he was no help to the Panthers football team and was getting paid more than any other player on the team.

for me here i could not stand the guy from day one and that superman pose made it even worst.sitting on the sidelines all the time with the towel covering his head are just 2 of the crap things this guy did.and the interviews where he shown up looking like a gay clown gee....i think the denver game in the superbowl i can look back over the years and say that was one of the best games that i have ever enjoyed, it put this clown in his place with no heart for the games.Fig Newton dont let the door hit you in the ass we are overjoy to get your ass out of this state......
