Another misinformed post by a misinformed poster. Using the 2008 figures for mlb and NHL 30 % of NHLers were of European descent. Compare that to 28% of MLBers who were born outside the US; no difference in the amount of foreigners in either league.

are you kidding? Baseball is like 35-40% Americans, most players are foreign born. The same would happen with other sports like basketball and football if little dominicans could afford a football

16 NHL teams this season averaged a sellout at home (98%+ tickets sold). Only 8 NBA teams did.

One of the major reason Hockey does not enjoy a higher popularity is that they have a lousy T.V. deal. They need to play on ESPN, and dump NBC, who only shows a select few teams in the regular season. As far as excitment goes, this sport has more than baseball, which is the most boring of them all, and hoops, which is easily fixed, and full of over paid players who really do not give a crap if they win or not. The NHL is much better than the NBA or MLB, both of which should just disappear.
