I don't think a specific team is told to lose a game, if anything it's the referees that are told to help a team win a game in order to extend the series. You think Kobe, a guy who wakes up every morning and practices for hours, is going to accept being told to lose?

While I think your post is pretty ridiculous, the refs definitely have a HUGE impact on games, and I've always thought they lean towards the team trailing the series to extend them and get more TV games, more ratings, more commercials, more revenue. However, I don't think it's 100% rigged to the point that players just throw games because they're told to.

tell me how the Lakers should have won tonight when after the first half they were only up 7. Thunder were shooting a little over 30 percent from the field, lakers were just under 50, were knocking down threes, kobe was playing as good as he could play, fisher stepping up, gasol and bynum playing great. But even though the Lakers shot better, how were they getting smacked on the glass? They were getting smacked on the ORbounds and Drbounds, they didn't get to the line more than 5 times in the first half and the Thunder were getting their consistently. Durant hadn't even gotten going offensively to that point and the Thunder's crowd is easily the loudest in the NBA.

Taking that into consideration, it would only be possible for the Lakers to win tonight if they shot over 50 percent and held the thunder to around 35. If you surrender on the glass and the free throw differential was as such, it's going to be very, very, very tough to win games, especially on the road.

You're talking about Kobe here. He thought he'd be able to single-handedly take down the Thunder and win the game. Wasn't that what everyone was saying when the Thunder went on that run in the 3rd? That it only happened because Kobe was sitting out and as soon as he was back on the floor, he'd take control of the game and it'd be lights out for OKC.

Did you see that smile on his ugly mug when he sunk that 3 in the first quarter to shut the crowd up? Can't stand him.

Pat, you have to know how Kobe thinks. He's saving all his energy for important games, Kobe is not true Kobe unless he's getting to the line. These games mean nothing to him, so he's going to try and shoot his way back into the game instead of attacking. If it works out, and he gets hot, then it does, but nothing good usually happens when Kobe settles for jump shots (that was a clear indicator at the beginning of the game and 1 of the reasons why I told all OKC supporters that they would still win the game even when they didn't believe). When it's on the line, Kobe is best player in the world (by far).
