I assume his contract had a bonus at 200 k's... the ump even gave him generous call for the K but ya meaningless game between two teams out of playoffs so who cares?

Don't like it either
Team would have honored bonus if 1 K away
Integrity of sport in question when this garbage occurs
Need to remove statistical incentives from contracts and replace with grading (i.e. if player finishes within 5% of league leader in K's the X$$$), it's all relevant after all

Absolute garbage from the players and the ump; this is one reason why some clowns are convinced that games are fixed.

A dropped ball on purpose is an example of a fix.

The Buccaneers did this once against the NY Jets.
The defense ran the opposite way to let the Jets score so the Bucs offense could have another shot at RB James Wilder breaking the record for most combined Rushing & receiving yards.
Jets knew and keyed on Wilder.
I believe Tampa coach and/or organization got fined and the Jets remembered the next time they played year or two later and beat the Bucs something's like 63-14

So 199 strikeouts isn’t an accomplishment, it has to be 200?

Why would the umpire know or care about this clause in a player's contract ?
The player likely makes in one season, more than the umpire makes lifetime.

While it was definitely no doubt a bush league move, this IS Mike Minor we are talking about after all who had a career year that he will probably never duplicate.

I always thought baseball was the last honest sport but after MLB mocked us with 9 runs 11 hits by the Mets on 9/11. I have a feeling MLB is all BS also.

What about pack letting stahan set the sack record, with guy who previously held it standing on sideline!! That was one the most pathetic things ever!

True, especially if you look at it like the player changed the true outcome of the game being influenced by money.

Exactly what I thought of. Total bush league.
It was UConn’s Nakysha Sales about 20 years ago. Tore her ACL when she was about to break school scoring record. Needed two points and the next game the opposing team let her shoot an uncontested layup in return for one of their own.
Can’t believe this happened in MLB.
