Kawhi free agency - I'll be very surprised if he stays in Toronto............

No unfinished business left there. He got them a chip right away.

The last time he got to choose his destination it was SDSU. He didn't choose the spurs or the raptors. They chose him. Now he has the power to control his next 4 years.

Yes the raptors can pay him 50M more than anyone else the next 4Y but if he leaves for a large market he'll get even more endorsement deals that will/can make up the gap.

Where will he go? My gut says we should believe the smoke that arose from the fire last year and he will sign w the LA clippers and try to take one of his hometown teams to heights they've never achieved. Remember, they've never even been to the conf finals.

Jerry west and Steve Ballmer will likely get their man.

If not the clips then i have no idea where lol.

Even if G.S. beat Toronto. Leonard wasn't going to stay.

Guy was just so happy to get out of San Antonio... for whatever reason.

Wish the guy would show a heart... and stay with Toronto... but he won't.

He's obviously close with Lowry who is is 33, I can't see him signing more than a 2 year deal, but I think the most likely scenario is he stays.

what is the deal if leonard signs with toronto? when can he be traded? i think that works for everyone. kawhi gets his money. raptors get an extension to their elite run. clippers get kawhi in a years time.

i haven't seen this discussed but it seems like everyone wins with that model.

i see leonard said "they - the raptors - should be able to build off this championship". honestly, i think people parse language way too much but it is interesting.

Spurs org namely pop had players call him out for not returning in Feb last year from injury. He felt betrayed

Show heart by staying in Toronto? He's s grown man he can do whatever he wants. Dude has huge heart.

He is going to Lakers. Bookies are not stupid. Lakers are -400 right now to win the championship. Big 3: AD-Lebron-Kawhai.

He’s going to LA, and always has been. Not sure why anyone thinks otherwise. Big market, and his hometown. Absolutely zero chance he ends up anywhere besides the Clippers or Lakers. This was a one year thing for him to get things in order to go back home. He has all his marketing ordeals in order, and will be huge in the LA market. He’s in line to make bank, and LA is the perfect spot to do so. Kids will be running out to buy New Balances like crazy. He played the Spurs well, and this was his plan all along whether they won a championship or not.

I think the Lakers are the faves to win the title because the BETTORS are moving the line thinking they get AD and either butler, kemba, or kyrie. One of those matter three

Lakers are +450 to win the title. 9 to 2 odds. Even if it was 4 to 1 that is +400. Not -400. Minus would be 1 to 4 odds.

Doesn't change the fact that bookies consider them the favorites.

Kemba is staying 100%. Kyrie apparently wants to sign with Nets right now.

Toronto is a large market - greater population than Chicago and 3rd largest city in N America not including Mexico.
Plus most of Canada is the Raptors market, thats 36 million.

    Agree with everything else.

When he spoke to Scott Van Pelt for ESPN... he said the city of Toronto and Canada... like it was past tense. Not like... "It Just Happened". More like... I'm happy to win a Championship for the city... now I must go. Didn't actually say... I must go... but it was just an odd interview.

    I think he's leaving.

For his own benefit, he should leave.

They fell into a very fortunate situation this year.

Marc Gasol is 34 and slowing down.

Lowry is 33 and too inconsistent.

He gave Toronto a championship he should now move on and put himself in an easier position.

You don’t get Siakam on every team; a young rising player, versatile, plays both ends. There’s also OG Anunoby. He’s a guy that the gm refused to include in a trade for Kawhi Leonard. Some people will say who is this guy? Well, nobody knew Siakam at the same time last year. He’s only 21 so theoretically he has even more upside than Siakam. Those are tall and athletic 6’8 or 6’9 types that made the bulls defense so good with Jordan.

If he wouldve won this title for an American team that had never won before, it would be a much bigger deal here in the USA than it is right now

The raptors were 17-5 without him this year. If you think other teams will be so accommodating to load management with Leonard, don’t be so sure when the team is struggling to make the playoffs.

Right!. Because you will be able to see team chemistry before they get a chance to play together.
