Puts a whole different spin on things. Height looked pretty good, so maybe not his fault at all.

Do you think this is the reason coaches resort to 'icing' them? Just because it's hard for the kicking team's line to hold off the rushers twice in a quick succession? So it has nothing to do with the kicker and everything to do with the other 20 guys on the field?

Icing kickers does not give any advantage

Actually statistic show not calling a timeout they miss more

I think coaches "ice" because they are superstitious and want to feel like there is something they can do about what happens. In this case, the Eagles never rushed the first kick. Icing doesn't do anything.

Idk. Seemed like that one regular season game where he hit the right upright 4 times he was practiticng for something.

This is far more complex of study than those simple results.

Distance matters and evidence shows the advantage to icing could be negligible.

The actual results and parameters have different among studies, but icing the kicker doesn't seem to provide a worthy edge.

no. if anything its the opposite. rushing the kicker will tire out the defenders more than the offensive line since the offensive line just has to hold its position and dig in while the defenders have to try to push them out of the way. thats why no huddle offenses tire pass rushers out more than offensive linemen.

blocking for kicks is also really easy and takes basically no skill since the splits are so tight.

He's hit the upright 5 times this year. Hard to loose that way.

It doesn't matter. It was a short kick and he should have kicked it high enough to avoid getting deflected.

If he doesn't have strong enough leg to kick it higher, then he doesn't belong in NFL. Period.

Chicago should have released him a LONG time ago during the regular season as he just cost them a possible Super Bowl run.

Not only that, he just cost his teammates a lot of money since each player would have been paid another $27,000 in the divisional round. That's $1,404,000 total excluding the idiot kicker.

Honestly, the other teams released a lot of kickers this year when they were missing chip shots. He should have been also.

I believe he set a record for hitting the posts, which was 6 times in one year.

The management should have known he was the shittiest luck player in order for none of those post hits have bounced in.

The management failed miserably along with the kicker. No questions.

Kicking has been a problem for alot of teams this year as it seems compared to years past..

Even Jan pulled his hammy and was done when he was needed the most. It's an NFL plague.

Should have never got rid of Gould. Their own fault. It was obviously tipped though, so I don’t blame the guy. Random fatty blocking is just as much to blame on that one.
