You like it? I can usually do 2-3 a month. I've got another one about ready. You got a real deal at $12! I sell them for $20.
I don't deal with Chinese. Sorry, i'm a man of principal.

good luck with it,
but my common sense tells me its a replica.
it would had to be kept in some kind of special airtight case to hold up that well over time.
just look at how the constitution, and Dec of Independece are kept and the shape their in

can you tell me how much a large golden medallion is worth? my father gave it to me, he's egyptian and a descendant of the Pharaohs (this is no joke), and he gave me a Roman golden medallion that he framed. but i have no idea where he got it from or if it's real or anything. i will take a pic later.

Thank you Stealthyburrito. I've been to hundreds of auctions, antiques shows, antiques shops and to be honest, I've never seen anything that would even remotely resemble this item. And I'm planning to keep it.

Sotheby's response:
Dear Mr....,
I looked in auction records for your map and there have been several copies sold over the past 30 years, many of them hand-colored like yours. The top price fetched was at Pacific Book Auctions, one of several smaller auction houses. You might try offering it there, as we we could not handle it for you.
Here is the entry: Seutter, Matthaeus - Novus Orbis sive America meridionalis et septentrionalis. Augsburg, [c.1730, or later]. 499mm by 579mm, hand-colored, with 2 uncolored pictorial cartouches. Repaired at lower lower central crease. *Pacific, Nov 17, 2005, lot 152, $2,500

The map described by Joshua is much smaller than the map I've found.

The appraisal is free, just go to Sotheby's webpage and follow the instructions on how to submit an item for sale.

See man. Like I said, a good find but well under 25k. If you decide to keep it, make sure you treat it well.

Boner, the map described by Joshua is much smaller and with some major damage to it. My map is in excellent condition.

Good find. My uncle would go to garage sales and find things worth a decent amount of money. He also gave Army smoke bombs to me when I was 7.
found it! let me magnify it and pull it up...hold on.

Whatever it's worth, it's a cool map. I love looking at maps. When I was a kid my entire bedroom was covered wall-to-wall in them...I would walk around with my eyes closed and point at one and see where my finger landed...then I'd look it up in an encyclopedia and read about the place. I just love geography and MAPS!

Charlie, your item is a little bulky and Sotheby's may not be able to handle it properly.
