I would not advise buying land like Fishhead did unless your highly experienced like him. It is not as easy as it looks to turn a profit.

Green Plains Energy of Omaha, which operates ethanol plants in Iowa at Superior and Shenandoah and four others in Nebraska and Tennessee, said this morning that it’s looking to buy plants that might be for sale.
Chief executive officer Todd Becker wouldn’t specify where the company was looking but said the momentum of a $23 million profit in the fourth quarter and improved margins has put the company in a mood to buy more plants.
In 2009 Green Plains bought two ex-VeraSun Energy plants in Nebraska.
“We don’t want to grow just for the sake of growing, but we feel we can expand,” said Becker.
Two possibilities in Iowa could be Hawkeye Energy plants at Fairbank and Iowa Falls to bankers in a prepackaged bankruptcy. Hawkeye, which continues to manage the plants, and the lending consortium haven’t said what they ultimately plan to do with the two ethanol plants. Hawkeye continues to own and operate plants at Shell Rock and Menlo.
Becker told a conference call this morning that the ethanol industry “is on solid footing,” because of improved margins caused by stronger gasoline demand and lower corn prices. The industry also got a boost last month when federal environmental officials

First off, if you knew me you would know that I'm very modest and put myself down 3x more then any degenerate on this forum has done in the past or could in the future!!.........please, I'm an idiot, loser in the game of life, and not near as smart as most of the posters here at SBR.

Secondly, my brother is a top farmer in the state of Iowa and has been for many, many years.........and only stated so after I was asked who would be taking care of the ground.

I own acres there now, and have for many years........I'M VERY IN TUNE WITH THE IOWA AGRICULTURE SCENE.

Corn and soybeans............and possibly BISON as livestock.
