Guy is selfish just because he gets assets does not mean that he is not selfish.

That's probably true. That just says a lot about guys like MJ, dominque and dr. J. They had the balls to take that chance. It was worth it to them to prove they were the best.

Also, you got to factor in that the contest was new back then. Most of the stuff they were doing was new and fresh. With 20 years or so of contest, you see everything so it is watered down.

Be fair though, the contest had a lot more glamor to it back then as well. Also, there were dunks that hadn't been seen yet. That's not the case anymore. I watched DeRozan go between his legs and dunk reverse tonight and barely anyone cheered. That would have been an instant 50 in 1990.

I thought about that when i made my post. Trust me, i understand that the media is a whole different animal these days and you're putting yourself out there on a whole different level then 20 years ago
The thing about it though, is that i was disgusted by the complete lack of effort tonight. it's like they didn't even care. Those guys tonight could have given a shit if they entertained anyone. You could tell that some of them didn't even practice. The fans deserve more then that.

Yes that dunk Derozan did was a 50 not the other dunk they gave a 50 for. The dunk contest was water down but as I said early my money will go to Nate and he won. So I am happy with the money Nate made me.

They said that at the start too, that they didn't have a sweat going before it started.

I still think Wallace was high, and could give two shiets about the contest. Brown wasn't even creative. I think the best dunk of the night was DeRozan's teammate dunk off the side of the backboard.

Brown's first dunk attempt (the weak one-handed 360) was the exact dunk he did against Lebron in the high school contest 7 years ago. He made it then, missed it tonight.

There is no reason for LBJ to get in it if nobody else with a big name will be.

There is a difference between how he is perceived and what he really is. What i'm saying is that he's well past the point of people thinking he's just a dunker, whether he is or not.

no i agree with you 100%. he isnt just a dunker for sure. all im saying is he is a running back playing basketball, he charges at people all night long, lately he has has to play guard but when williams comes back he will be up to the same antics- kind of boring to watch, he made a fool out of himself last year in the east finals by charging at the magic players the whole game

I hear ya. Lebron is like a runaway freight train. He's hard to stop but their isn't a whole lot to him.

As far as his basketball skills, you can't put him in the same sentence as a Kobe or CP3 or someone of that ilk. Kobe's footwork and moves almost make Lebron look amateur in comparison. Lebron is the most physically gifted player, probably in the history of the NBA, and it's hard to argue with that. You put that freakish body and athleticism on a lot of players in the NBA and it would be hard not to be one of the best.

prolly the best point i heard "against" LBJ in a long ass time, instead of that kobe has 4 rings nonsense.

I wasn't trying to compare those 2 in combination vs. Lebron. i could have used one or the other. I was just saying that guys like that, especially kobe, possess certain skills and moves that Lebron doesn't have, or at least has yet to develop.

Dunk contest is older than an 8 track tape. Just say no Lebron

The NBA need's to really consider getting rid of it or letting D-leaguers do it.

Lebron shouldn't of even said last year that he was going to participate. None of the big stars ever do these events anymore.

Lebron doesn't have to participate. (He'd be better than the bums last night, save Nate, but I doubt he has many moves. I see tomahawks and semi windmills as his entire repertoire)
But he also didn't have to tell the world that he was going to do it either. Don't give me that "preliminary" BS. If you're wishywashy, don't grab the mic at a dunk contest and announce your so-called intentions. Real talk.

I love how someone who worships Kobe can have the balls to criticize Lebron's morals. Lebron doesn't get into pissing matches with teammates, doesn't threaten trades and whine publicly, and certainly doesn't commit rape. One's a class act, the other is a selfish prick.
