Franz, got a clip for you. After Tillman spun in the free-kick vs Bos-Herz, announcer said "Best FK in US history."
...It was nice for sure. But that's not paying proper respect to a great FK from the past.
Check out this Wynalda FK from 1994. Further out. Pretty nice, and did earn US a draw:
That couldnt have been placed any better
Not sure how far back you go ( i assume your 29 just like me. lol ) My fave on set pieces was Zico of Brazil , until Beckham came around..

Salud, Franz. Yeah, I'm age 29. Maybe in mind (if not body).
I was a huge Beckham fan. And for reasons people may not realize. His celebrity created a mark that was literally impossible to reach:
*I thought he was a fantastic player. His movement was pretty good. But his right-footed crosses were amazing.
..."Bend it like Beckham" was not just a saying. He had the free-kick goals in the World Cup.
...He was consistently stretching the defense with the spin on his kicks. Scored the FK goal vs GRE to qualify England.
...As a fan, you never take success for granted. All you can do is ask for full-effort. And Becks did that for sure.

Talksport from England. Talking about the ENG/NOR game:
I was just looking at the England game and saw that midfielder Rice has been added to the " Questionable " list with an illness. With defender Quansa out due to a red card ( and no connection to Trump or Infantino ) they have James and Guehi also listed as doubts. Its enough to be concerned. Perhaps a 6th straight Over 2.5 for Norway ?

Spain vs Belgium : 3pm
Spain @ 1.70 ( 2 units )
Belgium opened with a lackluster 1 - 1 draw against Egypt and followed up with another uneventful goalless draw against Iran. In fairness , they peppered Iran with 23 total shots despite playing with 10 men for 30+ minutes. Game 3 required a win in order to continue in the WC. New Zealand were down 1 - 0 at the half and needed to open up and find a result. That sealed their fate as Belgium just countered in odd man situations , cruising to an easy 5 - 1 win.
The playoff game against Senegal had them down and out for 85 minutes. At 2 - 0 down they managed to find 2 late goals and a last minute PK in OT to advance. On to the US game where FIFA president Infintino provided all the " chalkboard material " they needed. They played with purpose against a team that seemed ill prepared. Next on tap is Spain......
Spain have yet to concede a single goal in this tournament. Why ? The opposition needs to have possession in order to formulate a viable attack. With the skill level of Spain's midfield controlling the pace of their games , it makes it difficult to play " your game ".
The 8 teams that made it to this point are ALL worthy teams. As for consistency, Spain have been exactly that until this point.
Just my 2 cents
Enjoy and GL to all

Could there be something to the Rice illness issue ? I agree that I too expected the same from England's midfield.

Not sure I make much of that statement. Futbol is very much a group effort:
*Rice had a LONG run in the buildup to Bellingham's 1st goal.
*Winning matches is a combination of factors.
I've watched Rice quite a bit. He's a good player. Trainers normally say that FLU is something that can be treated to optimize play for 90min.
As for ENG vs NOR, this is a monumental task for Norway. Population of < 6.0M, but I've been wrong plenty:
Good energy to Everyone
Belgium
Over 2.5 Good Luck

Im not going to panic over this that's the media's job. As long as we show up England has the guns in Kane and Bellingham to get us over the line.

Good Luck, pack!
1) ENG has had some HUGE efforts from Belli/Kane/Pickford. Mexico played well enough to knock england OUT last game (w/o those three guys).
2) I know ENG has a long history of going out. I view it as ENG often having bad luck.
3) ENG is a giant team. So, I'll be rooting for them. Makes the tournament more interesting when ENG is playing in the business-end of the tournament.

No panic by any means. I am on England and have ridden the wave the whole tourney. I was just agreeing that players like Rice are next level. He had another great season at Arsenal and I am still waiting to see that same creative player. Perhaps he did have a bug of some sort ( explaining the " illness " status in the line up card )

Thank you sir. I agree they played like their careers were on the line. I think if England show up like they did against Mexico they're going to be a tough team to beat. I just like how much more hard-nosed they play compared to Beckham's England teams.

That's a fair comment. I've watched some of the videos from the Lamp/Gerr/Beck teams. For all the world, they looked like title contenders (but didn't get there).
Full props on England's performance vs MEX. Mexico was there to win. Even subs like Stones did the blue-collar work.

Right on Franz. Yeah I understand mate it's never a good thing to lose players of that significance. I don't expect England to take these boys lightly at all not with Haaland on the squad and what he did against Brazil.

We have had some bad luck in the past you're not wrong there at all. The WC game against France in 2022 could have easily gone England's way had Kane hit the penalty kick.
Beckham's teams were so loaded and should have done so much more. It's a shame. If only they could have had the heart of this current England team.

This England team hasn't played one good team yet so you can't say they have heart.
They won't play one maybe till the semis.

Haaland is being hyped all over the place. Having Norway advance past England would be a great promotion for the sport. I'm not saying they will win it all, I doubt they will, but I think they get past England and even possibly past the next opponent as well.

HAALAND is a mystery to me. He doesn't appear to be fleet enuf. But the coaches say his timing is excellent.
I go back to the 9-goal game at U-20. Opponents build a scouting report. Figure they would have seen him as a threat after 8.

Pack, I'll give you one more comment on why you should be proud of your boys. KANE/BELLINGHAM surely have more $$ than they could spend in five lifetimes. But they're giving it all for their country in the World Cup.
Remember all the players who used to say they're too tired after the long club season? Chance to make memories.
Compare that to the Americans. We waited 32 years to get the games back on home-soil. The teams we beat were teams we SHOULD have beaten. Pulisic talked about picking up a sprained ankle as we got rolled by Belgium. Best chance to make the final 8, and we weren't even competitive.

How come Norway and England get to play on Saturday after playing last Sunday?
Spain and Belgium played the next day and are playing today?
Also in the past they played two today and two tomorrow. France gets an advantage on that as well.
