seer, i have a question about the personal trainer thing. i was looking into getting a PT certificate (CanFitPro here in Canada is the best).

How do you go around employment with that? Do gyms employ you and then match you members? or do you get clients yourself who pay you directly? Do you have to pay a fee to the gym every time you train someone at their respective gym?

Also, do you find it's a good business? is it worth it to get into?

You can do it both ways. It is best to start out at a gym. They usually either get a % of the business you do or they pay you a flat fee and give you clients. You can get clients that pay you directly but you need your own place. I still have friends that do both. It really all depends on the place you work for. It can be a tough business. The best is if you have your own place in a high end neighborhood but that can take alot of $ and a good rep to get started. I would start out by seeing how your local gyms do it and see if you like it enough to make a career out of it. It can be a pain in the ass because there is sales involved.
