This more a "City" thing than is applicable to less populated areas of course (such as Houma) but if you find yourself in an atmosphere where, like, near to the side of a parade or such and you're pressed in with a crowd be mindful that pickpocketing is not uncommon during the festivities. I never did Mardi Gras in Houma but did in other places beyond New Orleans and really came to prefer celebrating in the smaller areas...rather than the City though one should witness the New Orleans parades at least once in life......Have fun

I post at no less then 20 gaming forums .............and have for quite sometime.

I am still posting here, taking part in contests. Maybe not as much as before but then again I stated my piece when the shit started here and while I don't agree with SBR's take on it I can live with it. I am hoping that this might again be the place it once was when the ratings and the help with sportsbooks were their top priority.

I believe it is not their top priority and they don't want sharp posters. I can stick to myself and those who I have met on this forum and do my own thing.

SBR is now about generating advertising revenue and affiliate revenue in my opinion.

I wish they would come clean on the Ganch issue, is he still employed here and when will he return to the forum? This he's working on a secret project is wearing thin.

SBR did make a good move on the gambling family because even if they were above board appearances made it seem so much not so.....

While I agree, based upon whats being said, that the termination of VD could have been handled less poorly and I fully appreciate that no one gives a fukk how I feel about the deal (which is fine with me) I'm compelled to say that I have trouble getting enthused about this internet warring because none of us knows what SBR's motivation was (or is) in what they do and do not do.

Their first mod was Sting, he eventually left and started 911. Russ (The Major) also used to be a mod at the RX, he left and opened Majorwager. While not a top player these days that site was probably 2nd busiest of the sector behind the RX at one time as there was no SBR, EOG and so on. Shrink hmself left the RX (founder of the site) and opened EOG. General helped him open it up and he too was an RX moderator at the time. Of course he's here now. Peep was another head mod and left to open Peep's Place. While the fire marshall may not be shutting them down anytime soon they have a reasonably sharp group that is loyal to the site. They don't really care about traffic.

My point? I don't know the old group well, although I've been a member here quite a while I have not been real involved other than browsing the Think Tank. I have nothing bad to say, they left for their own reasons and certainly deserve their own playgound. As Bill said that is almost the natural evolution of these forums. Mods, longtime/key posters and sometimes owners can burnout on their current site and move on looking for change. Doesn't mean anyone did anything wrong, just folks exercising their ability to choose where they spend their forum time. For every poster that leaves a site like this you will have 25 more to take their place soon enough, hopefully the site is happy and the group that left will remain happy as well. Nothing to see here folks, nothing to see, keep it moving....

Fascinating stuff...to me at least. I discovered Gambling related forums in 2001. Where was PST (PhoenixSports) Forum in all this history? If anywhere at all? I signed up there on the day that 911 went down, possibly on that very day...if not then the next....because I was driving taxi and all the cabs were ordered out of the airport, none let in....flights grounded...people that wanted cabs had to get shuttled off property, it was absolute chaos....I remember looking at the sky alot as were others....and no one was calling for cabs on the street.....people were stunned. I went home.

Watched the news and surfed the web. Seeking a break from horror I (somehow) stumbled on PST.

I recall it was like AMAZING to me to find a discussion forum about something I was interested in, betting on FOOTBALL!!! Total antithesis to what was going on "around me"...savages using planes as bombs and shit.

PST was my main place. Then I found RX but used it only for contests really.......I frequented "BobbyB's Ultimate" something-or-other forum as well but that one was never very busy (I think I found it again recently). Lastly I was a member at The (real) "Think Tank" or just The Tank....I think...it was called.....yellow colored pages, no "forum platform" just long pages devoted to each sport....

Angel - yeah I remember every person you mentioned. Agreed, Box and One was very good. BobbyB I think only did puck plays if I am remembering correctly. And though I didn't post there often I also remember PST. In fact one NCCABB tourney Bookmaker (CRIS at the time) sponsored a pretty good contest. Someone linked me over but since I only had about 20 posts on the site I wrote the owner and asked if it was okay with me playing the contest. Goy lucky and won it, was either 2-3K if I recall. I honestly felt bad, not bad enough to return the cabbage but it did bother me a bit. Yeah the guy(s) who owned (as far as I know) didn't come from another forum. If they did it was a minor role as a poster, no head mods or anything. I talked to one of the owner(s) once on the phone, seemed like a good dude. Anyway thanks for the stroll down memory lane.
