      Posts from RX forum:

Started off quickly in this game helping out Yao and the Rockets:

Notes: Houston has won six in a row against Seattle. ... Referee Tim Donaghy called a foul on Johan Petro on the opening tip – 1 second into the game – for bumping Yao on the jump. ...The Rockets never trailed in a game for the first time since a 116-98 win over Denver on Jan. 9, 2005. ... Yao had five assists, tying a season high.
Helped the Suns in this one:

Actually, an enraged Hill was on the court protesting another foul on Howard, the 6 foot-11 center who virtually vanished in the fury and flurry of the Suns' pinball offense.

Howard, no match for counterpart Stoudemire, already had been whistled for a technical foul.

It was Hill's turn, and he had to be held back by several Magic players from going after referee Tim Donaghy.

"It wasn't a two-way street," Hill said. "He (Howard) was getting beat up down there."

The Magic kept pace with the Suns' furious attack for the first half and, in fact, rushed to an 8-0 lead to open the game.

But there was no Howard for much of the first half after he picked up his second foul with a little less than three minutes left in the first period.
      This one is pretty funny:

It was one of those days for the officials. It happens. Tim Donaghy, a good ref, stubbornly blew a call when Luther Head fouled Keyon Dooling, calling it on Rafer Alston, who was not in the neighborhood. Lead official Derrick Stafford offered to discuss it, but Donaghy would not have it and hit Alston with a technical and his fifth foul.
I think Phil actually said he thought they were trying to fix this game, but can't find the exact quote:

Phil Jackson was frequently in the ears of referees Ken Mauer, Tim Donaghy and Jason Phillips and after the game said: "They were terrible."
Later, Jackson added: "I'd better apologize for saying the referees were terrible. They weren't terrible. They weren't consistent tonight. The league has been on my case anyway.
"It's pretty obvious they shot 14 free throws in the third quarter. Those free throws were inconsequential plays, basically, that just got them to the line. That's tough when you're just playing defense, just trying to play hard, and you're not allowed to play defense."
You damn right George, it had to be something.
Milwaukee coach George Karl was ejected by referee Tim Donaghy
with 4:54 left in the second quarter after arguing a non-call.

"That was the worst call of my career," Karl said. "It's a sad
commentary toward officiating. It was definitely personal, from
another game. I don't recall but it had to be something."

        Here's another classic.

Both refs looking right at it, one of them Salvatore, and ignoring Walton's foot, way over the line, as well as the Suns screams for a timeout.

To refresh your memory, the Suns were up in the 2006 playoff road game and only needed to dribble out the clock. This 'steal' by Walton changed possession, and gave Kobe the final winning shot.

Almost all my evidence is from Suns games, but that is because I follow that team closely.

Edit - Officials: Bennett Salvatore , Ken Mauer , Sean Corbin

I went to HS with an athlete who was a few years behind me that ended up playing for a University near by... I had planned on asking him to shave points for me but I never did at the time he was playing because that was the mid 90's and internet wagering was not around or reputable then... I also didn't have the money needed to pay him and place the bets but I asked him years later if he would have done it and he said yes...

Does anyone know if there were any fines levied in those games? If so I wonder if Stern will refund those monies at all.

If I know David Stern at all, I think he'll be acting like none of this ever happened when next season rolls around. When journalists ask him about it, he'll look at them like they are stupid and ramble about how the important thing is the season ahead.

Exactly. We both know how this episode is going to turn out. They are going to paint Donaghy as the lone wolf, when we all know he's not the only one on the take.

Stern should start working on his NBA Divas campaign to compete with WWE's.

Big time story. Anyone who watches the NBA thinks it is fixed at times, now they will KNOW it.

That's the other thing too... players.. For instance that Lakers/Suns game or the Knicks game... Lakers/Suns the refs were calling fouls at the end of the game but the players were trying to foul it's not like they were calling fouls with a point guard just standing there dribbling the clock out with no one near him... The players or at least SOME ...HAD to be complicid...
