The mind is like a movie screen. Thoughts pass over it. If you ignore a thought it passes across the screen without manifesting its potential. But if you single out a thought, it takes on reality. And if you then charge the thought, it becomes real (to you). At the first stage, of singling out a thought, it is very easy to drop it, like a brick, but you need to recognize it in that subtle phase. It becomes harder to drop the underlying thought, after you have charged it with energy.

If you want to stop something, like smoking, you have to understand that you have to free yourself from the duality of smoking. Your mind works with polar opposites, in this case smoking/non-smoking. If you constantly affirm that you don't want to smoke, you actually keep the thought of smoking alive. That thought follows the other like a shadow. Some will power may be required, at first, to break very strong habits, but for the most part the key is just a complete nonchalance. You don't care one way or the other; smoking or non smoking. You dropped the thought. Your mind is free of the self-hypnosis. As it was before.

There is no great victory in dropping a thought. It's just basic mind control. You stopped smoking? Big deal. Why stop there?

You need a strong mind but good post. Wearing the patch helps to not think about it at least it did me.

Who are you trying to fool here SBR John? I bet you $20 the wife told you it's either cigs or sex. It worked good for you. You quit smoking and got rewarded with more sex in the process.

49 and have taken 1 drag in my life on a cigarette. Find it personally disgusting. Not judging here.

I dip, just as disgusting, and equally harmful. I have cut back a lot and will do the patch soon to make it for real.

Not only the health issues, but has anyone realized how much $ you spend a year on it. Think of the things you could do with that $. Depending on how much you smoke or dip, figure out that yearly amount. Bet you could take an extra vacation or buy something Very nice for yourself.

Give it a shot. If you fail, try again. Do not be afraid to get help.

I just figured that I spent approx. $2225 last year on dip. Who is the stupid one? ME
