Not sure if some of those guys are still around or not...They were all rated as A+ at OSGA.

boy, these names bring back some good memories. hard to believe 8 yrs has gone by so fast.. time just flies..
Yes - MANY under their umbrella back then. And quite a few were worth playing at. It affected so much when they were gone.

Obviously other books out there have tried to fill the void and scoop up that recreational gambler's dollar hoping they become hooked enough to blow their load. But BetOnSports set the bar with all the marketing they did and many of the books in their umbrella appealed to lots of lifeblood the industry still could have had now.

The only BoS book that I played a lot at was MVPbets.com. It was my first offshore book and I still remember getting the cool sports pager from them with just a $300 deposit. $43 ** fee back then if I remember right. Those were the days.

BOS had really nice lines on baseball big dogs. They did take me for the $3 i had left in my account when shit hit the fan.

Infinity was another one of their books.

Neteller getting fvcked and leaving the US and the government making them ban Canadians.

Moneymaker winning the WSOP and helping fuel the whole on line poker industry since he won his entry through Poker Stars.

Cascade screwing everyone and still being allowed to operate as a deposit only book.

Wasn't the story of the decade in February of 2000, right when the decade started with the guilty verdict of Jay Cohen? If he was found innocent, the wire act would not apply to the internet and there would be legal sports betting online, many Neteller's, pinny still here, Betfair available, and the US govt would not be going after sportsbook owners like they have been. Am I correct here?

I'm not saying Cohen was wrong, I admire what he did.

The decade starts and ends whenever the individual chooses to acknowledge it has started and ended. It is simply a 10 year span. From ESPN to network T.V. they are revealing decade lists because some are acknowledging a change of decades. Agree or not it is a individual thing.

So an individual can decide if the 20's begin with 2021 and end with 2030? Shoot...then women all over the earth just got younger.

The biggest story was that exchanges became legit places for betting. Plenty of birth pangs and growing pains, but when we look back 50 years from now, that will be seen as the biggest change to the industry. Neteller will just be a footnote.

                            Technically not.
A decade doesn't end until 10 years are over.
Just like a century doesn't end until 100 years are completed.
Most of the world celebrated a new millennium 12 months early on 1 Jan 2000.
If you were to start a dating system wouldn't the first year be 1 rather than 0?

Not that it really matters at all. For convenience sake it is far simpler to go with the flow and refer to the 80s, 90s, naughties etc as being distinct decades

For me, I feel it was the monumental collapse of Cascade. To watch as a place that was widely considered to be a Premier book completely came apart was a real eye opener.

BOS/Millenium fukked me good, the only thing it taught me was not leave large balances anywhere, anytime, anyhow. The ones that kept saying they would be ok should be strung up.

I know some of us higher rollers think more about Pinnacle dropping US clients - hell I remember scrambling with everyone else to get a big sum transferred out right away. But they delivered and that was that - unlike how BetOnSports collapsed.
I was one of the victims of that whole BetOnSports fiasco. I have $7,349 in there, and then the next day POOF...website down, money gone forever
