Kentucky vs. Long Beach State Pick
No video tonight, too tired. Will resume making videos next week.

Like Kentucky -21 here. Yes I have picked Kentucky a lot recently, but I've also won 5 games in a row (4 taking Kentucky, 1 on the opponent). Here is why I like Kentucky....

Long Beach really only plays 8 players. Their 9th guy only averages 6 minutes a game. That's not a recipe to defeat Kentucky. Their tallest player that they play is 6'7", and he leads the team in rebounds. He will be going up against 6'11" DeMarcus Cousins, 6'11" Daniel Orton, and 6'10" Patrick Patterson in getting rebounds, players that are much more talented and much more taller. Long Beach will not be getting any rebounds at all, especially on the offensive end.

Defensively, Long Beach allows their opponents to shoot 47% on the year. They have played a very tough schedule though, one of the toughest in the country. On a neutral floor, West Virginia beat them by 23. On the road at Notre Dame, they lost by 20. And at Texas, they lost by 34. Yet the hottest team in the country is only favored by 21 at home? I don't get it...

In terms of pace, Long Beach likes to run, hence the 107 points allowed to Texas. You do not want to get in a running game with Kentucky, this just means it is easier for them to cover the 21 point spread. Long Beach does have a couple of 3 point shooters though so one of them could get hot and keep Long Beach close, but the fact that it's going to be 1 shot and out each trip down the floor doesn't give me hope that Long Beach can cover, especially when considering how good Kentucky is playing right now.

For the Drexel game, the total was set at around 130 and Kentucky scored 88 points. The total is set for over 150 in this game, so Kentucky may flirt with 100 here.

The bottom line here is that UK is basically an NBA team, and Long Beach is coming off a loss to Loyola Marymount. I don't like Long Beach State's chances of hanging around to cover 21 points. I would have only considered Long Beach at +26 or so.

          Agree Z

Think this is one of those games where they can't set the line high enough

Another thing, Kentucky's 2 point defensive percentage is 11th in the country, only allowing opponents to shoot 39% from inside the arc. This teams tallest guy is 6'7". What do you think is going to happen here? Their only shot is chucking threes, and I'm not taking my chances backing a team that has to hit 15 three pointers to cover the number.

Kentucky leads the country in offensive rebounding. Again, Long Beach State's tallest guy is 6'7". What do you think is going to happen if Kentucky misses a shot? They will keep shooting until they make it.

2 shots at Long Beach State covering the number

                  1. Hit a ton of 3 point shots
                  2. Hope Kentucky has a hangover from the 2,000th win celebration the previous game, and/or they are looking forward to Christmas

If Kentucky plays anything like they have been the past 5 games, its a blowout.

Is that game really a 1:00 start ?

Pretty early for a midweek game for a west coast team.

Another great point. Yes the game starts at 1PM Eastern to allow Long Beach State to get back for the Holidays. That's 10AM time for Long Beach.

I think now is time to take advantage of Kentucky in the low -20's. I think oddsmakers still have Kentuckys shitty first games stuck in their head, oddsmakers are waiting for the "re-clapse" which is in reference to your quote "On a neutral floor, West Virginia beat them by 23. On the road at Notre Dame, they lost by 20. And at Texas, they lost by 34. Yet the hottest team in the country is only favored by 21 at home? I don't get it..."

As long as Kentucky doesnt hit that wall oddsmakers are watching for in the next 2 or 3 games, the lines will be getting higher

They have 4 or 5 guys who are first round draft picks.

I am on it. Thanks for the analysis and pick. Kentucky Defense is as good as their offense which is rare for such a talented team. Drexel was throwing up a lot of poor shots, they really could get any penetration just pass around the perimeter and take a contested outside shot. They called off the dogs against Drexel he was not going to run it up against Bruiser Flint his best friend. May not be so willing to do that against LBS hopefully avoiding LBS only chance to cover, which is to back door this one.

I had -19 the other day, it drops to -17

                                              Kentucky wins by 44

I have a clue on Kentucky, bookmakers do not

Plus, you have to consider that Calipari likes to run up the score to prove his manhood. I live here in kentucky and this game will be rout city....I expect a bit of a slow start for UK, maybe up 10-15 at half. The second half, they use the first 10 minutes to pour it on and end up winning by 25-30. I have locked in a line of -18
