#41"GAMBLING", a 1934 movie produced, directed and starred in by showbiz legend George M.Cohan.
It was filmed at Cohan's expense in an abandoned New York warehouse. A casino owner sets out to solve a murder . . .
You'll never be able to see this flick, tho. It was an abyssmal box office flop, and the original film has disappeared. A few copies supposedly are in the hands of collectors, but unless you know one of those guys you won't be viewing it.Comment -

still little puzzled with that scene of the asian hooker (or hooker like ) women towards the early part of the movie where she tried to get 200 dollars from him and got really agressive when he said no. was she proposition him? or she just want some free money to gamble?Comment -

#58Originally posted by picoi think the title is called "rat race"...bunch of rich people betting on who will get the 2 million dollars first. 6 teams. pretty funny movie because during the race, the casino owner makes crazy events for wagers...like who ate the coconut filled chocolate nugget. it is fun to watch those people bet on crazy things.
It had some funny moments but the ending reeked of a movie that had lost all respect for itself.Comment -

#59Originally posted by The HGI've never seen The Gambler, but Let It Ride would be my vote, although it could have been a lot better. Almost all movies are awful IMO. But Let It Ride, it's a little good. Just because there are some classic lines in there, most notably: "I mean really, I don't understand why you can't just watch the horses run around the track. I don't see why you have to bet on them".Comment -

Where you see this at? Looks kindof interesting (I guess Phil Ivey was a producer/backer of this?) but it must have had a pretty limited release as it looks like yahoo only has it currently grossing like less then $5000 so far...

#65I watched Yonkers Joe because of this thread, great flick.
My List
Owning Mahoney - Great acting performance, it makes you sick in your stomach from a gamblers perspective.
Diggstown - great boxing/gambling flick, not a serious movie but a must.
Two for the Money - Not a favorite, but it did get me fired up to throw down some action.
Yonkers Joe - I liked this movie a lot because it had gambling in it, but at the same time there was a much bigger picture.
Rounders - Best movie about poker, good cast as well.
Eight Men Out - Good movie based on the Sox's scandal.
Others I can think of off the top of my head: Casino, Bookies, and 21.Comment -
