    best gambling movie
i think the title is called "rat race"...bunch of rich people betting on who will get the 2 million dollars first. 6 teams. pretty funny movie because during the race, the casino owner makes crazy events for wagers...like who ate the coconut filled chocolate nugget. it is fun to watch those people bet on crazy things.

Not much of a gambling movie, but I really enjoy watching Indecent Proposal. Only for the few gambling parts that are shown.

I liked bookies. Kinda low budget and corny at times, but bc of that, its in the cheap section at your local video store.

Two for the Money was decent. Although, I'd probably have to put Rounders at the top of the list.

The Gambler. It starred James Caan and Lauren Hutton.

The movie's a (rather poor) remake of the 1963 classic It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

                Check it out.

There was a movie, can't remember the name, with Shirley Jones (Partridge Family mom) a long time ago where she played a compulsive gambler which was very good.

Best gambling movie by far...all the youngsters must see it.

Honorable mention to Let it Ride.

Adding the Deer Hunter, for including some rounds of Russian roulette. "One shot!"

I'm not so much into movies about compulsive gamblers, such as the Gambler, but Seymour-Hoffman does a great job in Owning Mahowny, based on real life story.

The tone of The Gambler displayed the dark side of gambling. No other film I've seen can even come close. The ending seemed rather mixed up, my guess was it involved self destruction.

I've never seen The Gambler, but Let It Ride would be my vote, although it could have been a lot better. Almost all movies are awful IMO. But Let It Ride, it's a little good. Just because there are some classic lines in there, most notably: "I mean really, I don't understand why you can't just watch the horses run around the track. I don't see why you have to bet on them".

The 1973-74 movie The Gambler with James Caan was OK. I don't know if this movie would qualify for this question or not, but I have to say Easy Money with Rodney Dangerfield would have to get my vote.

                                  A little more background.

Ideally a movie has a few surprises up its sleeve. The Gambler is just a predictable flick about a degenerate gambler. Owning Mahowny is about the same subject, but much more dramatic and surprising.

The Good Thief, with Nick Nolte, is a combination of heist and gambling. Nolte is so good in this movie. He said he took a little H every day to get in the right mood. Just a very cool movie.

The Deer Hunter may be one of the best movies ever made. Not sure if it's a love story set against a war setting, or the other way around. The role of gambling in this movie is literally life and death, and the final Russian roulette scene is such a shock that I wish I could still see it for the first time.

Rounders is the wellknown poker flick that did much to bring poker into the mainstream. After this movie you'll never eat an Oreo cookie the same way. Does a good job of showing the social struggle between a regular life and a life in gambling.

James Bond, Casino Royale. I'm not a Bond fan, but this movie completely redefined him. None of the BS of previous Bonds. Instead a gritty and hard-nosed hero. Great dialogue, intriguing plot, and plenty of gambling.

Also seen the Croupier, but it seemed pointless. Two for the money was about touts. The Color Of Money and The Sting involve gambling as well.

i like rat race. because they have scenes with rich people betting on crazy things...i was laughing out loud when they where all on a private jet and the pilot was intentionally making the plane unstable so they could bet on who will throw up first...hahaha i give them props for coming up with crazy betting ideas.

the daily show last night was funny too. jon stwert made a funny joke about bill clinton is so bored now that he is willing to bet on anything...1000 dollars on whether they forgot the pickle in the sandwich...haha

i love watching interesting bets in the movies or real life because betting on regular events everyday gets kind of boring.

The Gambler and Owning Mahoney are fantastic!

Two for the Money may not just be the worst movie about gambling, but the worst movie about anything! Pacino should be ashamed.

I was watching a good movie tonight that relates to this topic actually. Did anyone ever seen the movie Diggstown? If not it's a must watch movie really. It's about a guy that bets the guy who owns the town that his fighter can take 10 men in one day.
