never told anyone
I wrote it at 3:23..I am pretty sure the same minute he took his last breath
But it not about how he died..Oh how he lived!!!
Two days before I was planning on leaving for my new life in Florida (4 years ago), I was taking my dog to the vet because he wasn't eating. In the car there he looked at me and made a noise that I had never heard him make before that was just so strange and curious. I will never forget that.
When I got to the vet was told that kidney failure had set in and he might die in the plane ride if I tried to fly with him. Unbelievably tough decision to put him to sleep. Just had a dream about him last night, crazy how much they become a part of your life.
Good luck paver, hope he makes it through the Holidays.Comment -

Keep the body. If you have a sausage grinder at home (and I'm not talking about the wife), then you can make some sausages and pork chops out of him. Use his bones as toys for your other dogs. Cook the brain and serve it with a delectable selection of rice, beans, and simple spices.
You'll thank me in the end.
Have a great day!Comment -

#47Cooking recipe for your chiwawa?
Hell, you don't even need to go to the vet to put it down. Snap it in half like it's a wishbone or a fortune cookie. Put in the blender with some bananas and strawberries.... and you have a fruity chiwa shake.Comment -

Get your vet to prescribe Rymadol or Tramadol for your dog. Much more effective than the glucosamine pills he is on.Comment -

#55Pavy my rott is about 13 years old(people years) and she was getting down in the hips about a year ago and I took her to the vet and he game me some type of medicine that you give with meals. It started out by giving her 1 in the morning then 1 in evening for first 2 weeks or so then just 1 a day, it got so much better that I quit giving them to her (knock on wood). It cost like $45 a tub about the size of some those large butter tubs. Dont get me wrong it didnt fully heal her but it did make a complete difference on her movement especially when getting up. If you are interested in the medicine let me know and I will go try to find it and let you know the name of it.Comment -

Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts.
Rest in peace Royce. He is at the funeral home right now and will be cremated. We will make a memorial in our garden for him.
I would like to dedicate this song to my beloved Royce. It was the last song he heard before passing away:

#70Sorry to hear of your dog passing away man.
I'm sure it's a big loss to you.
I had a Border Collie/German Shepard (girl) for 13 years. She was epilepic and had seizures that became more frequent as she got older.
She then developed a uterus infection within her last month of life.
I had a appointment set for a monday morning for my dog, who I grew so close to.
I woke up that monday morning to take my dog to the vet, only to find that she had went down into the basement (where she has never gone before) and passed away.
I think it had to have been the hardest thing I had to do.
I had to pay a friend to give her a proper burial in my backyard...because I was too emotional to do it.
Never thought I could bond so closely with an animal, but the reality of it was, she wasn't just an animal, but a great companion.
I often see my cat who was close to the dog, sitting down by her grave.
Take care pavy.Comment
