There isn't a lightweight in the UFC that can hang with Penn.

BJ Penn is still in a class by himself. He's been amazing since the last GSP fight.

Id agree. His balance is incredible its almost impossible to take him down..Once he hurt Sanchez to start off the fight it was all over

Matt Hughes needs to retire for good. Nobody can beat BJ Penn in his current weight class. I thought Sanchez had a chance and I was wrong.

I think he'll fight Maynard next if Maynard beats Diaz.

going from memory...
They are even and only fought twice....
Hughes hasn't retired yet. So fighting at a catchweight would allow the final match up, Matt Hughes will retire eventually... I don't think Matt Hughes is done, done. I think GSP is just too big/long for Hughes to fight. They are neutral in wrestling skill level... Its just GSP takes Hughes down and Hughes can't take GSP down... Its a bad match-up for Hughes. People forget GSP is a freak of nature for that division.
Why wouldn't you want to see this... BJ Penn at his best against Hughes...There is nobody in Lightweight to fight him. And BJ Penn isn't going to take a catch weight fight unless he's motivated to for the right reasons. Hughes is all I got..if someone else got something else...throw it out there.
BJ Penn just took and made Diego Sanchez look average in the octagon. What other fight has Diego looked just "Average" in?

hung with florian and some of his crew after the fights last night...great guy. you would never know what he does for a living if you didnt already know of him. not your typical loudmouth fighter type. more like a guy with a 9-5. he said bj is just so sneaky quick, nobody can touch him right now

maynard has always been number 1 contender in my mind after he smashed frankie. hes been thoroughly dominating and just ran into a little bad luck on the show. his loss by triangle choke was due to a huge jiujitsu expierence gap between him and diaz and wont happen again. and of course his no-contest was a terrible ref call. that being said, bj will still probably trounce him. but maynard is the real test for bj at 155.

id rather see edgar or diaz before i saw maynard/griffin. Maynards game has too many holes, still. I think nate/penn would be an awesome fight because of the standup, get one step closer once diaz locks maynard up, again.

yeah, like i said, if you didnt know of him, you would think he was a normal guy with a 9-5. he said he didnt really like to talk shop after fights and stuff, but he was super cool about talking of cutting and adding weight and stuff...he and i are about the same size and he just really liked talking bout anything and everything. i guess it helped i was with the club owners and shit, but he really was the nicest guy around... liddell was fukked up..stumbling around having a good time. it was my first ufc and ill go back if it comes around again, but wouldnt go out of my way to drive out of town to see it. typical memphis rednecks too..there was a fight in the crowd after every fight

I know the names you guys throwing out there...but none of it sounds good. You want to watch BJ use his jab to pick fitch apart, while fitch tries to ride him out.... weak and lame fight.

I really don't think BJ should fight GSP again. I mean BJ dominates at 155 and nobody can take him down, then he moves up to 170 and GSP can take him down at will. I guess it just proves how good GSP is and also what a difference that extra size makes.
Personaly, and I know this will probably never happen, but I would like to see him fight Shinya Aoki. Think that would be a good fight.

Who in Welterweight can take GSP down...that's the real question... Hughes couldn't... next... they all couldn't. Next... whose the next guy whose going to take GSP out...he's a freak of nature.
BJ Penn should never get in the octagon with GSP.

Bj absolutely should get in the cage with GSP, now that he has his priorities straight. We all saw their first fight, bj whooped GSP. The rematch GSP ran through an uncondition bj. Im ready to see the rubbermatch right away, no reason to wait.
