Notre Dame hires Brian Kelly as next Head Coach

Just heard, hasn't been leaked to ESPN yet.. Supposed to be a press release tonight around 9, which is after the Cincinnati football players team banquet.

I'll update with a link when it comes out.

Thoughts? Kelly's been great at Cincinnati.. but coaching for Notre Dame is a different ball game. Is he Charlie Weis-lite, or will he turn the program around?

It annoys me when coaches are A$$HOLES to the media about NOT being interested in jobs, and then they end up accepting those jobs.

Didn't he tear some reporters a new one when they asked him if he'd be interested in the ND job? Geez, now he looks like a turd. He could have just said "I'm the coach at Cincinnati and all that talk is irrelevant, but thank you for the flattery, next question."

I talked to players of UC Football after class today and I was told that the Team Captains have already been informed by Kelly that he is leaving. Like the poster said an announcement can be expected after the players banquet. I was also told by the players that word in the locker room is that Skip Holtz could already be in talks with UC and could be signed as early as Friday to lead the Bearcats at the Sugar Bowl. For people close to UC and ND the next 6 hours should be very interesting.

It all depends on who takes over. Rodriquez was a strict disciplinarian and Stewart lets the fukkers do anything they want (now we see hwhere that program is going). They were excited as shit when it happened. We'll have to wait and see who takes over.

No other coach would have done better. The guy was working with 18 year old qb's in a defensive league. Even Tebow lost 4 games when he was a sophmore. It will get better.

He has a national title unlike many coaches.

I am very disappointed in Kelly. Disappointed that he is leaving yes, but more disappointed that he chose to drag this out. I think he clearly knew he was going to get this job and wanted it, but just let it drag out. I wish him the same as I did Dantonio when ht left right before the bowl game to Michigan State and that is to lose every game.

1) Peterson of TCU
2) Muschamp ( steal him from Texas)
3) Tuberville

if you look at the last couple of BCS national title teams they have had great defenses!
