And yeah, I feel bad for both of them as far as NBA careers go, but if they manage their money right they never have to work another day in their life.Comment -

#42Come on, give Grant Hill some credit, he at least won rookie of the year and 6 really good season to start his career.
Oden has done nothing but get injured.
I guess the dude be an easy 20-10 player if not for injuries, oh well, don't care for him either way,Comment -

#47Has he ever completed a week of an NBA season??? Maybe the biggest bust ever. He might have scored the easiest "set for life deal" in history. 1)Play High School Ball 2)Play 1 year at OSU and do some big dunks and blocks 3)Get drafted #1 4)Become perpetually injured 5)Walk away with 10+ million dollars 6)Win at Life by the age of 22Comment -

#56Grant Hill played six great years before getting hurt, and then he became serviceable, Greg Oden has played 82 games in four years, who cares when people saying wow what a great athlete or specimen, there are guys who have a bit of fat on them that never get hurt and some people get hurt walking down the street, that is just the way it is, at least he made 25+ million dollars.Comment -

#63I still don't understand why they took him over Durant? They knew he was injury prone in college, he has one leg shorter than the other, and was hurt even the night they drafted him! At best he might have been dwight howard on the defensive end, but would never be more than a 10 pt a game scorer. How did this happen to Portland twice thats what i want to knowComment -

#68Why are people blaming Portland, now? Sooooo many people considered Oden/Durant a toss-up leading up to the draft. Plus, Portland happened to have a "Kevin Durant" in Lamarcus Aldridge. Stop being revisionists, you didn't see this coming.
But Oden is (was?) a once-in-a-lifetime talent, a combo of size, skill and athleticism that trumps anything Durant has in his toolbox. While scorers are easily replaced, rebounders, interior defenders and intimidators who are also skilled players, are not. Add in the fact that you just don't win a NBA title without a dominant big man (unless you have Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen on your side) and you see that Oden was a no-brainer for Portland to draft.
Plus, Oden had no history of being injury prone, other than breaking his hand in college. Just comparing Oden and Durant's physiques, you'd expect Durant to be the one who is brittle. And don't forget, Oden is the kid who was getting compared to Bill Russell. There's just no way you could pass on a center with his skill/ability/potential. Plus, and correct me if I'm wrong, but there were little to no serious concerns about his knees going into the draft.Comment -
