Greg Oden to miss entire 2010-11 season

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden will have microfracture surgery on his left knee and will not play this season.

Oden has not played since last December because he needed surgery to repair a fractured left patella.

The Blazers say that the microfracture surgery will repair damaged cartilage and is unrelated to the patella injury.

A news conference is scheduled for midnight ET in Portland.

Oden, the top pick in the 2007 NBA draft, missed his rookie season because of microfracture surgery on his right knee.

The 7-footer has played just 82 games over parts of two seasons, averaging 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds.

Actually, I feel bad for the guy. He can't control the fact that he has terrible knees. I'm sure the guy wants to play, but he just can't. It's kinda sad.

He might have scored the easiest "set for life deal" in history.

1)Play High School Ball
2)Play 1 year at OSU and do some big dunks and blocks
3)Get drafted #1
4)Become perpetually injured
5)Walk away with 10+ million dollars
6)Win at Life by the age of 22

Most 22 year olds have no clue how to handle money and he will probably be broke soon no matter how much he made. I don't think he will win at life by 22.

Blazers franchise is cursed. Drafted Sam Bowie over Jordan, drafted injury-prone Oden #1 and now Brandon Roy knee is done, wow. And just think a few years ago they had put together a nice roster of talent.
