Even money. Educate me. No one on this board thinks Texas will win the National Championship. I have the hater posts to prove it.

I like Texas , they felt they were screwed last year and have played the best so far this year.

Their defense is right behind both Alabama and Florida but their offense is better.

I would take the field now at +6000 and hedge with Florida or Alabama on the championship game just in case Texas loses to Nebraska.

Bingo. Bama and UF will knock each other off. Compared to that, Texas has the equivalent of a lay up to get to the MNC.

Pick the winner of the Bama/Florida game and take that team at +odds.

I am personally on the fence, as I like Alabama +5.5 but the SU winner can go either way.

This is my point. Most of you have absolutely no betting faith in Texas. Yet they are the even money favorite. How can the books be so wrong?

They are not wrong , one of the 2 teams you think should be favored will lose this week

Florida is a 5 point favorite over Texas. Alabama is a 2.5 point favorite over Texas. These aren't exact numbers because the implied odds are a bit weird.

If both teams are favored to beat Texas in the BCS championship why would Texas have the Lowest odds to win the whole thing. Based on your odds, there is no way they can be the favorite to win it all, yet not be the favorite to win the game.

Doesn't make sense to take them as even money, as they should be an underdog in the championship game. They might be the "favorite" right now cause Florida/Alabama will bounce each other out.

Florida is a 5 point favorite over Texas. Alabama is a 2.5 point favorite over Texas. These aren't exact numbers because the implied odds are a bit weird.
Are these your numbers or are you deriving them from somewhere? If derived from the market, I'm wondering how this is possible with Florida as a 5.5 pt fav over Alabama unless you are factoring in HFA somewhere.

Texas isn't the best team, but the reasoning is simple.

They have the easiest path to the national championship game. Florida and Alabama each have to beat an elite opponent (each other) to get there.

Texas I think matches up poorly against the SEC team. They might score 17-21 pts tops and with there suspect defense that won't be good enough.

Please don't give any stats on there defense. I know them, but I have personally viewed them and there defense is lacking.

Texas, Alabama, and Florida all basically have a two-team parlay to win the nat'l championship. Figure the odds on their possible games and you will get the proper market odds. Since Texas has a huge ML edge on Nebraska that lowers their comparative odds over Fla. and 'Bama despite the fact they will likely be dogs to either SEC team.

Your odds on any other team are essentially a 3-team parlay with Nebraska ML, Pitt ML over Cincy (or vice-versa), as well as the dog vs. Fla/'Bama winner in championship game. Even this is assuming you have the correct team.

Seems to me that Florida and Alabama have been the unimpressive teams, squeeking by week after week, especially Alabama.

Oh yeah, they have been playing the mighty SEC powerhouses such as Ole Miss, Arkansas, Miss St, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Laughable, the SEC has two superior teams like several other conferences.

Texas will beat either, they are on a mission.
