I have a "cheap" little contest about the greatest music and musicians !
This is an extremely important contest concerning "the Greatest Music and Musician's" from "one" particular decade in our past 9 decades !

Now ladies and gentleman ,this is serious ,this decade had probably, the most influential and romantic music, with ,just simply ,"mind blowing" talented singers ever .
I will confess ,this decade was so mixed with pleasure and emotion, music wise,it definitely influenced me romantically . [and yes,I lost]

Now this MY opinion ,yet I am sure their were ,or are now, million's that will agree with me on this answer .

I have a two part question following .

    1. What decade am I talking about..worth nothing unless you get part two correctly .
    2. What singer had not only the most spectacular song's from this decade, and maybe, the most 1 hits also ?[just guessing on that last one ]

The "FIRST" two correct answers get the 10 points, and only ONE guess each .[no ghosts allowed either]
I will have to leave shortly,so I will not check back tonight until around 10pm,maybe even midnight, to see if anyone won ?

And no more GRIPPING from losers ,got it ?

Based on what I think your age might be and that you mentioned romance , I'll say you are thinking of Bobby Vinton --- 60s :

Roses are Red My Love, There I've Said it Again, Mr Lonely, Blue Velvet --- all big hits, all in the 60s I think, all nice romantic melodies.

I would put the 30s, 40s, or 50s ahead of the 60s.... and singers like bing crosby, sinatra, tony bennett, nat king cole and many others ahead --- but trying to get what you are thinking >>>> vinton 60s

Hmmm... I don't consider the 70's to be a "romantic age" by any definition of the phrase. It is, after all, the decade that spawned big hairy muffed porn and the introduction of facial money shots and anal sex on video. Nothing says romance like Ron Jeremy blowing himself on beta either.

There's no way any performer that anyone else listed in this thread could have been mistaken by Abe as having "the most #1 hits also", unless he doesn't know as much about music as he lets on. The Beatles had the most #1 hits in the US, followed by Elvis (who nobody guessed). Believe it or not Mariah Carey is next, then Michael Jackson, Madonna, and The Supremes. I don't know where Sinatra ranks on that list, but I had a gut feeling that's who Abe was referring to, since "romantic" isn't the first thing most people think when they think Elvis.

"romantic music"... Are you for real? Even Madonna herself admits she's no singer!!!! And do you know what "romantic" means??

She was the antithesis of a great or talented musician!!!!! She was a great performer, a talented showman, a shrewd marketer... but you didn't ask any of that!!!
