Fishhead apparently hit a hand that has odds of coming out 1:320,000+ times over 300 times
That is 300 x 320,000 = 96,000,000 hands of played poker on average.
At a generous casino rate of 30 hands an hour fishhead has managed to be literally 40 to 50 thousand times more lucky than the average player....
He is talking about video poker... ~ every 40k hands or so in jacks or better...

That said, if you slept 8 hours a night and averaged 400 hands per hour, it would take you 5 years 1 month and 20 days of playing video poker straight, without ever stopping to eat or take a shit to hit 300 royals...
So the question begs, is Fishhead full of shit or is his entire life consumed by video poker?

Monkey,
You can play as many as 100 hands at a time or about 600 hands per minute on certain machines.
Using the 40,000 hands per royal flush estimate, you can theoretically hit one royal every 70 minutes or so under these conditions.
Hitting 300 royals would take about 350 hours of play under ideal conditions so its definitely possible.

Uhh. No. 100 play machines are not 100 separate hands. They have 100 separate draws. It is certainly not the same thing. We are talking about full pay JoB anyway...

Full time players can average a Royal a week even on single play. Fishead doesn't sound like somebody who'd give up a dollar for anything, so there must be some incentive or freeplay involved.
Why he chooses to start threads like these without saying anything remotely interesting is a mystery to me.

That would still take 6 years, reno. And you'd have to be playing 600 hands an hour for about 67 hours/week. That hardly leaves enough time for a full-time job moderating TheRx. Does it? The mystery is that he's simply a square craving attention.

Not so fast my friend.......
First off, playing a single line VP machine at 750 hands per hour(the rate at which I play), I will hit a Royal Flush appoximently every 55 hours of play if the chances of hitting a Royal on a particular machine are approximently 1 in 40,000 which is the case on the majority of machines I play.
Now throw in the fact that many times I play triple-play, five-play, and ten-play machines and the rate of hitting one every 55 hours is even smaller.
...........I have hit MULTIPLE ROYALS on the multi-play machines several, several times over my VP career(a few dealt!)........and by the way, I'm only counting that has ONE royal hit when I state I've hit well over 300.
By the way son, nobody, and I mean nobody, on this site has played more video poker in a live casino then me.........nobody!

statistically you hit a royal flush every 700 000 hands ,
so i'm right with the assumption that you played over 21 000 000 hands live /online poker lifetime??

In the mid 90's, I had a few years where I hit over 20 natural roryal flushes just on single line machines!!!!!!
When I stated that i've hit over 300 natural royals lifetime, I was actually being very conservative............just because I knew the masses with no agendas would attack even that low figure.

YOU HIT A DEALT ROYAL approximently once in 700,000 hands............not when drawing in five-card draw.
On most machines it is anywhere from one every 38,000-46,000 hands........depending on the type of machine.

If you can only play 30 hands an hour on video poker, you're terrible. I can do about 10 hands a minute on double bonus. Of course, you get worn down after an hour or so.

Try playing 10+ hours a day......sometimes 6-15 days straight.
10 hands a minute is roughly 600 hands per hour, which is a nice steady pace.........especially for anything longer then 3-4 hours........and even more so for a game like Double Bonus where the strategy is much tougher then that of dueces wild, jacks or better, or the majority of other vp varieties.
In fact, anything faster then 600 hands per hour after 3-4 hours of play will in all liklihood result in a few mistakes, even for the very astute VP player.

I averaged well over 1000 hands per hour this summer in Vegas, even with the distractions, on the simpler games like JoB and DW. I'm sure that can be sustained over a full day by a "pro". Don't know how I'd fare over a full day - I get bored playing more than 2 hours.

fishler, do you know that with all the hrs you put into this lets say 25 yrs or so, you would have made way more just working a real job..
lets say you did this for an avg of only 40 hrs a week (probably longer).. 5 days a week..
this was a real job for you.. you had long hrs of no sleep, sore legs, headache, lots of alcohol consumption, 2nd hand smoke galore. i pray you dont have lung cancer soon.., not including expenses like gas to travel to casinos, parking, restaurants, coffee and rest stop meals, hotels out of town..
fishler, if you made 500k breaking your ass and risking your $$, you would have made way more just working a 9 to 5, risk free, and no expenses or driving..

A few points......
1. I didn't break my ass......I enjoy EVERY ASPECT of gambling, you more then anyone should understand this. Other then being with family and friends, there is nothing, nada, zinch, I would be rather be doing then gamble.........I'm as sick as anyone can possibly be, I know.
2. Nicky, the majority of time I've played video poker, slots, or poker in a casino environment the smoke as been nary an issue.........especailly if one is playing the wee hours of the morning which I did most of the time.
3. VP is risk free if you have the right disciplne and strategy.
4. I seldom drove more then 30 miles a day when living in Vegas.
5. Parking??? Vegas and most casinos in America offer free parking.
6. Restaruants/rest stop meals........the majority of my meals are comped.
7. Working???.........I like to work, but I prefer to gamble much more........and precisely why I haven't held a job in 15+ years(other then a very short stint as RX mod if you want to call that a job).
I'm basically semi-retired from the slot/vp scene since 2002........except for a few strong +ev plays I might travel to or when enjoying a vacation, as there are +ev plays across the entire mainland.

fine fishler, i wont argue that, but at least admit 1 thing.. you wasted your whole life while there was a world out there.. how many times was it sunny and 93 deg and everyone is at the beach and you were at the casino for 12 hrs trying to make money.. man, life goes by fast and you wasted it sports gambling at night and casino gambling at day. there is more to life than this and i know you know it.
i still knock myself on the head each day that i wasted my whole quality of life by wasting it on a sunny sun aft and it's 92 deg and all the boys begging me to join them for a day at the beach and what did i do, stay home and watch baseball.. even sat nights when the gang was all going out to eat out and they asked me to come and what do i say.. no, just so i can stay home and lose some money..
it fukkin stole my life away, and it's worse for you cause you had 2 things going on.. life goes by quickly and all you did was gamble gamble gamble, when you could have enjoyed life to its fullest..

In some respects, I guess your right..........I've spent thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of hours in casinos when I could be enjoying something else. However, keep in mind how much I enjoyed that as I stated.......and still do.
Plus, how many people can say they have traveled this country and been in every state many times over going from one gambling destination to the next...........as you know, I don't sleep much, so when I play 10 hours of video poker in a place like Deadwood South Dakota from 10pm-7am and go to bed until noon...........I spend the entire afternoon hiking and and sightseeing...........DEADWOOD SALOONS, WILD BILL'S GRAVE, MT. RUSHMORE, ETC., ETC..
I've done crap like this all over this great country.................I say I've seen and done much more then your average person.

If not mistaken, I believe you stated the following at one time or another on some forum...................
If one lives to be 80 years old and one person sleeps 10 hours a day and the other 5 hours........that's five extra hours every single day over a 60 year adult life!!!
Let's do the math on this........
5 hours x 365 x 60............If my math is right, I think this adds more then 10 years total to ones waking hours.
I FIND SLEEP VERY BORING

Fishhead I did not realize you were talking about video poker when you said you have had 300 Royal Flushes. I thought you were talking about Texas Hold 'em online. My mistake.
