Can you bet on quarters after the game has started? Such as 2Q after the first quarter is in process or 4th quarter while the 3Q is in process or finished? Thanks

#3If I play a quarter it's usually the first quarter but I would think that the 2nd quarter should be available since it hasn't happened yet but they lines might be adjusted for the play that has already happened. IE starting the 2nd quarter on your opp's 20 yard line should affect the line.
Edit: I just went to a few books and no they aren't offering it in progress.Comment -

#4You can bet on any quarter prior to the start of the game.
At halftime you can bet on the 3rd and 4th quarter.
You can't bet on the 2nd quarter while the 1st quarter is in play and you can't bet on the 4th quarter while the 3rd quarter is in play.
I hope this answered your ?Comment -

Exactly right. Some books offer "In-progress" or "Live" lines, but those aren't shown at SBRodds.Comment -

#7Basically I want to know because one poster always bets on 2nd quarter and 4th quarter in my book. Such as the Falcons +1/2 or something, while they were on the 20 yard line to start the 2nd quarter. SBR Lines shows quarter lines etc, but I would figure those have to change etc and would guess those are only starting linesComment -

#9I am also not talking about live betting options if that helps. Just a straight 2Q bet such as Indy Under 13.5 points after the 1st quarter ended or Flacons +1/2 while they are on the 20 yard line.Comment -

#10He is taking advantage of you, I would not accept the plays once the game has started. #12Well thank you sir for your answers. I will wait a little bit and see if anybody else has any thoughts, but it appears dtp just has been cheating me for a while. Not really too sure what I should do about that since it has happened for a while. He has sent all his points for new bets though, so I can adjust it at least from yesterday. He won over 400 points doing that.Originally posted by iceminers26He is taking advantage of you, I would not accept the plays once the game has started. First dtp is "cheating" me and then Rush probably stiffs me for 150 points. What a few days

#13I'd highly recommend not returning his points from today and I'm sure the forum in general would support that decision. You have to be a pretty big jackass to cheat someone like Mex who puts so much time into this forum for everyone.Comment -

#16Not that I support cheating, the other view is that rules were not outlined beforehand. If a book didn't outline the rule and suddenly confiscated your money it sounds like the kinda event that you would go to SBR to report... Just wanted to give the other side of the coin...Comment -

#17However, Mex clearly states that bets must be made before the start time of the game. Essentially what he is doing is past-posting.Originally posted by Boner_18Not that I support cheating, the other view is that rules were not outlined beforehand. #18It certainly is deceptive and potentially cheating. But it isn't past posting. Surely you wouldn't call betting the 3rd quarter at half time past posting b/c quite literally it is after the start of the game? If I were to argue against voiding the bets I would disagree w/ "cramming" this w/in the past posting portion of the rules and claim that it should be a distinct spelled out rule of its own...Comment -

#19The question is about 2nd and 4th quarter action. If you actually can't make real bets with these then you shouldn't be allowed to do so in my book. Can you take Team A +3 starting the 4th quarter when they are sitting on First and Goal on the 1. If you cannot make a real bet then I do not want bets like that as well. I do not bet on quarters, so I have never known.Comment -

#20YES, you cn bet on quarters. I do it all the time and make some good $. Bookmaker has quarters and I know linesmaker does as well. As soon as the 1st quarter ends, they put up the 2nd qrt. line. Same for the 4th after the 3rd. They have them for certain games only, not all but is usually a good selection. Qrts saved my ass in college yesterday, been ok in NFL today.Comment -

#21No you cannot bet on quarters after the game starts.
Several books offer updated quarters betting between quarters, with the lines adjusted to the current situation.Comment -

Mex lost over 400 points yesterday from these illegitimate bets. As long as the wagers dtp made today are less than the amount he won from Mex illegitimately yesterday I think Mex has every right to keep the points.Comment -

#28This is the right call. Just b/c someone beat the book (i.e. the rules were unclear) doesn't mean the bets were "illegitimate." This adjective is a conclusion. By keeping the bets you are acting as judge/jury/executioner.Originally posted by jayc88void all his bets today and ban him from your operation

While you are fully w/in your right to ban any player you see fit to ban, or to make rules as you see fit to make them if you confiscate point you are no better than Sportsbook.com confiscating cash placed on correlated parlays when the rules were absent/unclear about them.Comment -

The rules are not in the least bit unclear.
Those wagers would have been voided at every single sportsbook in the world.
Any book offering updated quarters does so in a separate section with separate lines.Comment -
