#77Originally posted by SportsgirlIt is just one game; however, it's one game they lost to an inferior team - 14 points inferior according to the books. Perhaps a more indepth analysis of how they lost, what Oakland did to take this win and if Washington might be able to pull off the same.
yes, its a copycat league, wash will try and do what oakland did, which is get extremely aggressive on defense for the first time since the chargers game week 1. they played balls out with a 'nothing to lose attitude' with more zone coverage and more blitzes because they were back at home again after getting blasted at houston and at the ny gia the past 2 wks, they played like their hair was on fire because they needed to do something to turn things around. philly took them lightly, believe meComment -

#79Originally posted by hoopster42haynesworth took up 2-3 o-lineman and let the pass-rushers do their thing as well kept guys off of bulluck, this allowed the safeties to stay back and double opponents wr's making the defense incredibly strong last yr
also, new DC chuck cecil has a different style that the players have not quite bought into yet
reasonably good answer, but you havnt quite spotted the most important reasons.
1) overacheived significantly last year - offense was never good but didnt have to play come from behind so the weakness (kerry collins) was never exposed
2) for this reason , kerry collins further wasnt exposed because teams could not blitz as much due to the titans being ahead and running the ball all game with cj and lendale. kerry can not play against heavy pressure.
3) players have lost faith in the jeff fisher bullshit conservative run run pass game management system.
4) jeff fishers inability to revise his scheme based on a hurt and seriously underacheiving defense.
5) all that you mentioned.
6) cocky jeff fisher who thinks that 1 super bowl appearance every 20 years is good enough to make him a good coach. fact is fisher needs to be fired. also, his ego has prevented him from makign the switch to vince young, who thoroughly deserves the job at this point.
the majority of average nfl fans blame it on the defense, but the real reason is there is no offense. a 54 percent completion percentage and 62 qb rating over 6 games [kerry collins] plus a head coach who cannot cope/ adjust to what is happening and repeats the same gameplan and same personnel every game = 6 losses.Comment -

#85GB and SD look good, But Oak is a scary bet.I think the Giants come home and take out their anger on the Saints on the Cards. Kurt may be on the ground all day. Pit at home -3.5 sounds good to me as well, Defense is healthy, offense looks real good, and Farve's luck may run out here.Comment -

#91Originally posted by hoopster42probably at the end of the season. in the nfl, for some reason, they don't like to fire coaches midseason. obviously much different from college where coaches are let go midseason all the time. my guess is he'll last the season before he's gone. if they were gona fire him, this wk would have have been the time right after the KC loss
Jim Zorn will remain the head coach of the Washington Redskins for the rest of this season, a team executive said Friday.
Vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato made the announcement Friday morning on his show on ESPN 980 Radio in Washington, D.C.
"Jim Zorn is the head coach of the Washington Redskins and will be for the rest of this season, and hopefully into the future," Cerrato said.
Zorn has one year remaining on a three-year contract.

Zorn, who has been widely criticized as the Redskins have struggled, essentially was forced to relinquish his offensive play-calling duties Monday, a day after Washington lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Although he didn't say he was given an ultimatum, Zorn said then that he would comply with the request "because I want to stay here and win ... Sometimes we have to do things that are uncomfortable."
But until Friday, Cerrato and owner Dan Snyder remained silent about Zorn's future.
Cerrato said the front office is "very frustrated" with the team's performance this season and that the playcaller change was a way to help relieve Zorn of his many duties.
"The frustration is very high, everywhere around here," Cerrato said. "But the relationships internally within this organization, quite frankly, remain the same."
Cerrato said he hopes his remarks will make things "totally crystal clear" about Zorn's status. "Hopefully we can just concentrate and focus on winning football games," he said.
Zorn's friend and former Seattle Seahawks teammate, Hall of Fame receiver Steve Largent, said during a radio interview Tuesday that Zorn considered resigning when that decision was made, but ultimately decided not to quit on the team.
Former longtime NFL assistant Sherman Lewis, recently hired out of retirement as a consultant, will call plays for the Redskins (2-4) for their Monday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Snyder initially hired Zorn as offensive coordinator before promoting him to head coach. Zorn enjoyed success as the quarterbacks coach for the Seahawks, but he had never been a coordinator.

#100Originally posted by hoopster42Hi Dad, so the clock keeps running if the forward progress of the player was stopped inbounds and then he went out of bounds. or, in some cases his knee, hip, or elbow hits the ground inbounds and then he falls or lands out of bounds, then the clock will still run as he was down inbounds. however, if he goes out of bounds before being tackled or touched by anyone (touched if on the ground only), then the clock will and should stop immediately. hope this helps

#101if a player goes out of bounds, the game clock stops. once the ball is spotted, the referee winds the clock and the game clock resumes.
exception: in the final 2 minutes of the 2nd quarter and the final 5 minutes of the 4th quarter, if someone goes out of bounds the game clock stops and doesn't start again until the next snap.Comment -

#103what are your feelings on how the NFL as a whole is moving back towards a spread-offense.... and getting away from "smash mouth football"
ex.. g-men, balty, tenny, even pitt to an extent.
NFC has already been there with teams like NO and ATL, now AFC following suit.Comment
