It all starts with the thread where people nominate the posters of the year (these are the manual votes):

Then the nominees for poster of the year are split into groups of 21 (the max amount allowed for a poll) everybody votes on the best posters from each group (these are the automated votes):

Last year everything stopped with the automated votes phase, this year we'd continue on and do the sweet 16 bracket contest. Also, last year we made a rule that only posters with 500 posts or more could vote in order to keep ghosts from voting (the other rule is that you can't vote for yourself).
