Pretty horrible call, this is why they should implement instant replays/challenges in baseball...
But they wont, because the old farts who run MLB are retards.

maybe the MLB can come up with a way for Boston to win the next 3 too?

Smart money on the Twins
I'd like to make a donation to the charity of that umpires choice for helping me win my bet.

I'm pretty sure he is saying it was fair but that it bounced out of play thus resulting in a ground rule double.

I'm not very good at detecting sarcasm, but the sign for a ground-rule double is to hold up one hand with 2 fingers up.

Umpires blow yet another call...
This is ridiculous. Credibility of MLB is going down the drain.

The umps have been terrible in almost every series. They are missing calls left and right.

Evidently, MLB put some new rules into place for the postseason.
To start with, if a runner is not touching the base and is tagged, he is not necessarily out. For example, if the player is wearing a Yankees uniform, he may be ruled safe. It's up to the umpire's discretion to determine whether the Yankees need a call at a given point in the game.

I'm shocked at how bad the umpires have been in both series.
They make as much money as neurosurgeons and government officials and for what? They could pay men with bigger hearts and sharper eyes for 40k a year and get a better job done.

Yeah that double play call was terrible, but just as egregious was the appeal to Swisher tagging up at third. You can clearly see the ump not looking at his foot when the ball was caught. How could he possibly know whether he left early? 100% make up call for the play at second.
