I know it wasn't Holyfield/Tyson but I genuinely enjoyed Vitali/Arreola
Why is Boxing so 'Not Exciting' these days? Or is it?

#37There will always be boxing..seats in arenas will be filled but PPV is taking a pounding I'm sure. They can't compete with a product like the UFC. These days people have less disposable income and I fully agree and have done the same as Sledge187. I used to order PPV boxing all the time, because I had always been a boxing fan. I can't count how many times I felt fckedover after some of those events I paid for..shitty match-ups...worse judging....boring fites. With UFC, there are many fights/fighters Ive never heard of but the fights are usually very exciting. As far as people saying that "4-5 yrs ago people were saying the same thing......its a cycle...." Thats before UFC was what it is now in the public eye. I have a 19 yr old son and 16 yr old nephew, they and ALL of their friends watch and know many many UFC/MMA fighters,,they can name practically ZERO boxers and don't care. Thats why I say boxing is dead!!! It's where the money goes that counts and thats what I mean. They will no longer pay for PPV boxing events within 10 yrs I say. All the kids these days (who would be into these sort of things) like it faster, more violent, add in the great skill levels in different disciplines and you have a great product (UFC) Take a look, even in their video games ie Grand Theft Auto etc. Extreme sports of ALL kinds. They all want bigger and badder.
Did you guys see that interview with Bob Arum where basically he said the UFC has a great product and is doing well " but they don't have the blacks and the Filipinos paying for it"...CLASSIC!!!! I say, start banking your money Bob because you're NEVER again going to see the paydays you once did. The fact is, from a business perspective, Boxing is getting it's ass handed to them and it's only going to get worse!!!Comment -

#38Did you see the Klitschko fight a few weeks ago? (guessing no one did)
Very exciting, just not highly publicized anymore. Don't remember who he fought, but he TORE him apart
Will be very exciting to see, people are calling for the brothers to fight for the belt....... STAY TUNEDComment -

#40I myself like Boxing, I also know the Mayweathers & Manny's are gonna bring in the dough, it has been around for a long time and its not going anywhere anytime soon. I just wanna know who your gonna pay to watch on PPV when those two cats are gone? (assuming Oscar no heart Delahoya doesnt return)Shut your mouth when you talk to Me!Comment -

#41Klitschko fight was a joke by the way, Arreola was suppose to be the next big thing and he had no, i mean none, I mean ZERO chance of beating him. It was boring and stupid.
Although, the governer showed up and thats always a plusShut your mouth when you talk to Me!Comment -

#42I agree with Pabinator....who else after those two???? The heavyweight division is a total joke and has been since Lennox. Not that Klitschko isn't any good (he is) it's just that there's no-one else...and there wont be a brother fite, because the other brother would get spanked...no chin whatsoever. I really wanna see Mosley/Mayweather...I could see PAMAN/MAYWEATHER happening for the money but again, thats what I expect because PACMAN is a l'il guy...I couldn't make a play on that fite but I'd watch it and be pulling for the Pactser. Mayweather just may be too big tho....I dunno. I'll say it one last time...THE FIGHT (and I'd pay for it) is Mayweather/Mosley...now prove it Mayweather...I think not.Comment -

#43Mayweather wont fight Mosely (atleast I dont think)
I think Floyd saw what Mosely did to pumkin head (Margarito) and decided he wants nothing to do with the juicer (roided Shayne)
Plus Mosely is bigger and boxers choose there fights so Mayweather will take the for sure win, plus when he beats Pacman it will be Set his legacy as the greatest ever (he wants that)
Another reason UFC is great is Dana puts the fighters we all wanna see fight (eventually)
Either way I dont see anything wrong with liking both sports, have the best of both worlds.Shut your mouth when you talk to Me!Comment -

#45fellas...like i said..its a cycle...new stars emerge....they said "whos gonna be the next puerto rican superstar after tito"...and cotto emerged....who will be left when cotto is done? well juan manuel lopez is emerging....floyd didnt really emerge into superstardom until the last 2-3 years...same with pacman
and boys...get your history straight regarding floyd and shane....floyd tried on several occasions to get a fight with shane...even way back in the day at 135....back when shane was a big star...and floyd was trying to break through...and shane didnt want any part because he was a high risk/low reward...he even called shane out after shane beat vargas the 2nd time...and shane said he had vacations, toothaches, and dentist appointments right in the ring after the fight....floyd aint afraid of shane...if shane doesnt get the fight its because floyd is flipping him the proverbial middle and saying you arent going to eat off my plate now because the roles are reversed...and shane is desperate for a big fightComment -

#46is the way its run, the best fighters very rarely fight each other as its bad for business if a good boxer looses, alot of "good" careers are based upon how good there promoters are in getting easily winnable fights which look tough on paper, e.g. young up and comming guy agast a old bum grandad fighter who used to have a name.Forward points to Karayilan, i am unable to receive SBR pointsComment -

#47Heenan, stick to managing Andre the Giant. I know that already, But that was before Pumpkin head got his head bashed in by Mosely or before he knew he was on the juice.
But you are right the roll's are reversed now.
And Cotto isnt half the star Tito was "at his prime of popularity" and no one cares about lopezShut your mouth when you talk to Me!Comment
