49ers reach out to Crabtree
The Associated Press

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—San Francisco 49ers president Jed York says the team would like a face-to-face meeting with top draft pick Michael Crabtree. The 49ers selected the former Texas Tech receiver with the 10th pick in this year's draft but haven't been able to sign him.
York tells KNBR radio on Tuesday night that an offer had been made to meet with Crabtree but he hasn't heard back from his agent, Eugene Parker.
Coach Mike Singletary acknowledged Monday the 49ers had discussed changing their offer to Crabtree.
Crabtree, who turned 22 on Monday, hasn't accepted the 49ers' offer for approximately five years and $20 million with a reported $16 million guaranteed—instead seeking money comparable to the higher picks.Comment -

#4If the 10th pick refuses to sign for $16 million guaranteed then something is seriously wrong with the draft system.Originally posted by pags11SBR would never get rid of me...ever...Originally posted by BuddyBearI'd probably most likely chose Pags to jack off too.Originally posted by curioustaco is not a troll, he is a bubonic plague bacteria.Comment -

#7Every time I see his name it pisses me off...was pretty stoked the Niners got him at #10. What a dumb f*ckhead...just costing himself money by pulling this shit. No way in hell he gets that next year if he sits out...also puts him 1 yr further away from his next money contract as a FA. ****ing tard.Comment -

#12Crabtree needs to fire his agent and sign a contract. He will not get more than the #9 pick. Too bad if the Raiders reached and took Heyward-Bey way too high. Would love if the 49ers says here is the contract today, next week it goes down, then it goes down again the week after, etc... He will be basically worthless this year if he signs so I hope he tries to sit out and reenter the draft. He won't be a 1st round pick next year if he pulls this shit and will receive a fraction he would as the #10 pick this year.Comment -

#22He's already a millionaire from endorsement deals so he wont be flipping burgers anytime soon.
He and his agent may be unreasonable but he's got all the leverage. He can sit out the season and re-enter the draft next season. Im sure there's a team thats willing to dole out the cash for a WR of his talent.Comment -

#25Well Kelly Stouffer sat out a year after the Cards drafted him and got pretty much what he wanted from the Seahawks.
Even if Crabtree sits out a year he will be a clear 1st rd pick next year. He was by far the best WR in college last season and lots of NFL teams are in need of a top receiver.
Heck, even Mike Williams sat out a year and was drafted high even tho he wasnt as talented.Comment -

#26I can't imagine his value is going to go up after this. I also can't imagine he will go higher next year. I wouldn't want to sign him anyway because if he does play moderately well we will just see him do another holdout in a year. He's not gods gift to football, and he isn't even that fast to begin with.Comment -

As for Crabtree, if he goes back into the draft the niners should sue him for the loss of that first round pick. I'm sure that they could get an attorney to say that the loss of that pick caused them to not win as many games, as a result, losing revenue. He may get paid, but he won't be able to enjoy the money.Comment -

#29It always deeply saddens me when someone from Tortilla Tech is so maligned by the media and fans like Crabtree. Stick to your guns, Michael, you go on with your bad self. Don't listen to the haters, young man, you hold out all year and next year and the year after that if you're sure it's the right thing to do.

#30Who brainwashes these guys to apply this fukked up logic? Is his agent really trying to convince people that since he SHOULD have been drafted higher he deserves that money? This is ridiculous and clearly illustrates what is wrong with the NFL. You have guys who are PROVEN veterans fighting to get guaranteed money but you are going to reward this prick with an inflated contract before he has even been hit by an NFL player?
Not surprising his agent is black too...Comment -

If he re enters the draft he will for sure fall lower than 10th. Most likely to the 20"s or worse. He will never see $16 million type numbers again. A shame ...Comment
