What purpose did the cop have to tell him to roll his window ALL the way down again. Why didn’t he say roll your window ALL THE WAY DOWN which by the way is not legal. He said roll your window down. Amazingly, some people in this thread can’t see this. They see Hill be a dick, so that means the cops can do any and all things to him. If they would have shot him or put a knee and strangled him, it would have been okay to them because Hill started it. Of course there are bad coppers treating whites just as bad, and here's a news flash, it happens more than the blacks getting treated badly. Of course white guys can't get credit for this, but it is what it is. I'm just saying that in life when you have a personal interaction with someone, typically you get what you put out. If you start with being an asshole, you will receive asshole treatment in return. I'm not saying the coppers wasn't overzealous here, but I'm also not giving the Hill dude a pass. In the end he wasn't harmed and there was no beat down given. It was a simple detainment, with a person who was mildly uncooperative. It does happen to white people more than black and Hispanic people, which is why we all must call out bad cops abusing their authority. If it could happen to Scottie Scheffler, it can happen to you. Sometimes it ends in a citizen being shot and killed. Yet, the police unions, city officials and PEOPLE IN THIS FORUM, will take up for the police, even unhinged bad ones. That has to stop. We can't make excuses for bad cops.
I've said from the beginning that Hill was being a dick. I don't expect civilians to be professional. Police are going to come across assholes. The police are trained professionals. They are taught to deescalate and follow the law while executing their job. Once they start taking it personal, start abusing their power and break the law, that's a problem.
You said it was a simple detainment. Well, the cops MUST HAVE A LEGAL RIGHT to detain citizens. Do you really want cops to put all civilians in handcuffs for speeding, running a stop sign? They had every right to stop Hill, state clearly why they were stopping him and serve him a citation. THAT IS IT. They did not have the right to force him out of his car, kneel on his shoulder, handcuff him, just because he was a dick. Not for a ticket where they obviously never feared for their lives. Police officers DO NOT have the right to abuse citizens as they see fit.Comment -

If by "professional" you mean civil (root word of civilian) and reasonable, then I would absolutely have that expectation. Why the hell not? Were you born in a barn or something?
Furthermore, we're not talking about some minimum wage cart attendant with a meth habit, we're talking about a professional (there's that word again) athlete who has had a lot of training (even if of a different sort, all training traces back to building quality habits) and more public relations than any cop would ever have.
As I alluded to earlier, stop trying to shoehorn some imaginary halo on every police officer. They were all just "civilians" before they were cops. They don't train in the Tibetan mountains and come back enlightened orbs of glowing light. So when one of them makes a reasonable request during a traffic stop, and are met with petulant stalling and obstinance, I don't really care that the perpetrator is removed from the vehicle and cuffed.
No need to straw man what I just said, it's clear as day I'm not advocating abuse of power.

I can answer that question pretty easily. If he wasn't Tyreek Hill, his window would've been down and the cop would have gotten the information he needed, issued a citation, and all parties would have left the scene without incident.Comment -

I don't have a fukking problem. Spend this weekend on any college campus and you will see young adults acting like drunken idiots. They are not going to be professional, sometimes will be uncivil. But like I said, I expect law enforcement to do their jobs. I expect them to be the voices of reason, to enforce the law, not break them.

Hill is most likely a combination of both. You cannot fix stupid in this country. We have a lot of really dumb people in society. We have to make laws to protect them from their own dumbfukery. I have zero expectation for what citizens will do. I don’t expect them to be decent, play nice or be polite. You are going to be forever frustrated if you think you can change people. Good luck.
But I do expect the people we pay to uphold the law and to be professional. That’s why they get paid. They can be an ass on their own time but when you are working be a fukking professional. Do your job and stop causing taxpayers more money because your feelings got hurt.Comment -

Well Hill is being paid by the NFL to be a professional on and off the field. Once in awhile, and I know it is tough for you, try to see both sides of a story. If you still think it is all the cops fault and that Tyreek Hill isn't a complete fukin dipshit clown then I feel sorry for you. How do you always take the sports star side? He could have ran over your son during the speeding and you would be on here telling us that the cops were out of line for arresting him.

I think it is safe to say that both parties could have, and should have been better. Tyreek acted like a spoiled child which he probably is, and the cop lost his cool, and he knows that as well. But to have to decide which one was more at fault IMO, is an exercise in futility.
They both could have, and should have been more mature and the adult in the room so to speak. Tyreek's level of disrespect in the beginning prompted all of this. Tyreek said, I could have been better. Yes Tyreek, you could have, and should have. Try and show some class and be a man. The cop could have come out of this as a shining example of how to defuse a testy situation. He failed to do so.
Both are at fault IMO and trying to pin blame on one side or the other seems fruitless. Thankfully nobody was hurt and hopefully both learn from this as well as those that watched it. Bottom line, be better. Why? Because you can .
